  • The frame bag lives with @buttrockanthem and the Thomson parts got distributed through to other peoples projects

It was a really good bike, and definitely the ideal pomp set up, I think it’s why I ended up building the 2nd xl pomp in a similar fashion but more relaxed, and ultimately, why I wanted the homer.

The rest of it lives on as the blug pomp,

Although that frameset with the pomp fork will be for sale soon, Along with the wheels and chainset so you could build your own version

  • @Maj how do you rate the Paul Mini Motos? Are they way better than (properly set up) Cantis?

  • TRP better IME

Tektro similar to TRP but cheaper

Mini moto excel at mechanical advantage with road levers so you dont have to run the pads SUPER close to rims.

All mini V are shit in comparison to Tektro CR720 with swissstop pads. Shorty ultimate better but expensive.

  • Mini motos would be the only mini v style brakes to fit the built visually.
I am currently running CR720s with the stock pads. Which swissstop pads do you have in mind?
    The blue ones?

  • Much like @amey said

The mini moto is really just the outright winner when using road levers and needing adjustability, such as a sliding drop out, having compared them against trp 8.4s which are a pita to fit and eventually exploded

The trps worked excellently and I could not tell you the difference between them and motos on my caad, honestly all the stopping power one needs even with a stock pad

I’ve not used them with canti levers, if I’m using flat bar levers I always use a full v brake now as it’s just easier to set up

I have not used properly set up cantis so can’t compare direct, but between this and discs I can’t tell the difference at the speeds I travel / terrain I ride

  • yeah BXP/Blue

the road pad holder and pad makes diff

another thing mini motos excel at is they offer the most clearance of any mini V; mud or mudguard

  • Should also add I paid, all in, less than 75# and traded some old parts for both of mine, I don’t think I’d pay retail for Paul’s at 160? Each.

I’d just use v brakes and long pull levers. Which looks 😎

  • Also @Oddo I’m bringing the bike back to London to take apart 1st week of sept, if you’re about in an evening one time, swing by and you can have a go, or you can borrow the brakes to try out if I’ve taken it apart

  • Rearranging that Epping ride for bank holiday Monday?

    Exact time, place, vibe,

Just on the bank holiday Monday

    Come ride some mud

  • Thank You @amey and @Maj.
This is for the Raleigh Rando so I already have brakes, bars and levers. Braking isn't shit and maybe it's my weak hands after the accident so for now I ordered those blue Swissstop pads.
@Maj I migt back to you about trying the brakes though.
Thanks and sorry for hijacking the thread.
    Please continue :D

  • For a moment I thought this had already happened

  • Always happy to see competition in the “crush cans not koms” scene, lack of flappy handlebar bags and and overly fussy sticker jobs leaves space for us both to exist

  • there should be some age restriction to follow

  • These looks pretty swag tbh

    Good impulse buy

Whomest knows what size bb I need for these?? Looked online found nout

  • Great shape, like my fav deore -Who makes them? Not SRAM surely?!

  • They’re Sachs-huret, from googling seems to be a euro brand sram bought early in their life cycle

I'd say 113 but it's just a guess. Best way would be using a spare and finding where do you need to move the chainline, then buy the right size.

  • I have a spare 113 👁👄👁

  • Huh, didnt know that - thanks

  • Currently reaping my sowing of having bikes all over the country atm.

    On the menu

    • going back home and sorting the mv out, need to sort the bottom bracket I fucked the spacers up on and rip the gears off, replacing it with a single gear, maybe get a ride in

    • bring the blug pomp back to London with 3 wheels??!? Some to be sold to a friend, another to be sold with the bike to a different friend when I part it out

    • have to get an old track frame back from north London to south London, I’ve leant my great strappable backpack to a friend so I should take the overground back and forth, need to get over my fear of the London covid ground

Honestly will be glad when this stuff has gone and I can just have 2 bikes

Makes one consider not getting a steel cross bike but an pompino clone which takes bigger tyres, has a mech hanger and a cooler fork, then consolidating into just 2 bikes,

    Cannae be arsed 🙃

  • Fuck cars, they’re climate crimes, glad I can’t drive etcetc

But moving to south east London and having to go south west?? Or north east and carry stuff??? 😰😰

    It’s like 6 trains

To have a van rn 🥴

  • Ahem, cargo bike

  • Whom has room to store these, such a wealth signifier to tell people you have room for a barge in your home
