  • I can't agree with deliberately ageing things. The romance of vintage items is surely in the story of how the item ages over time? Accelerating that creates an entirely synthetic aesthetic.

  • There again.

The average punter wont know its age.

Why not have some patina bezel swap outs.

For when u want to feel crusty?

  • can't agree with deliberately ageing things.

One of the thing that cross my mind is how will the faux ageing look after a decades or two?

  • Even though I like how it looks, I don't agree with artificial vintagification... Like no one can be bothered actually owning and living with anything long enough to create their very own patina. It bugs me that so many of our modern devices don't age well too, they just start to look shit.

  • That looks awful

  • I like the bezel but the lume looks shit.

Not at you specifically, but counterpoint: 00s to 000s of pounds on jewellery? Wear it however, do whatever, make it look however makes you happiest.

  • You’ve posted this before .. and now whenever I meet someone with a gold watch I use that exact phrase to ask them about it !

  • I’m completely alone in that I find the lume on the Pelagos underwhelming.. it’s bright initially but loses brightness quickly in my opinion. I did come from a microbrand milsub knockoff where the lume would light up the room overnight.

  • Ha - repeating myself is a worrying sign of ageing, but I am glad you have adopted the phrase!

  • *not my watch

  • Both very nice watches.
    That's how patina looks.

Re. the fauxtina Tudor, I think its terrible.
Bezel looks ok, but the lume is way to yellow as always.
And compared to the Tudor sub above way to even.

  • Hoodwinkee pre-owned are selling a 5711 this week. It's priced at $108,000.

  • Back on the bracelet after putting the strap in the wash (sorely needed) and trying to get reacquainted with computers and work things.

  • And it sold!

  • Baller confession or astute observation?

  • Like no one can be bothered actually owning and living with anything long enough…

Agree, I’d be happy with just the bezel, plus plenty of vintage watch look more like that with a white lumes.

  • Happy Friday all
