Like 2 sometimes 3. Chopping boards hold a lot of bacteria when they start getting cut up and they're like a fiver from Ikea, may as well just replace it whenever we go there.
End grain boards don’t get cut up to the same extent. They’re easy to re-surface with a bit of sandpaper. The occasional wipe with linseed oil prevents absorption. Cheap boards are a false economy imho.
