Anyone got any Brommy bits (frame, fork etc) that need some metalwork doing?
I’m thinking rusted out chainstays, broken easy wheel attachment points, cracked steerer from the old style stem.
I’ve been thinking I want a brommy for a while but I’m not the ‘buy a complete bike and leave it be’ type which is why I’ve always hummed and hawed and found a reason not to buy one but I think if I can find one that’s a bit of a project it’d be more up my street.
I’ve seen some on eBay in the past that have had rusted stays or bridges on the rear triangle but of course now that I have funds available there’s nothing there!

yes sir.
I am your GUY!
I just need to get them from a contact / accumulate my collection of bits for you...

@M_V item one, rear triangle, all bosses removed. Was going to just braze on a single loop cable guide for a brake cable.
No way of fitting the OE derailleur / 3 speed guide as they are in the bin!
Then I have a black fork, with the mudguard eyelet bent 90deg
A tensioner 1/3 speed
I have a rear brake; very used but just needs lubricant and new pads
A seatpost; extended, free with other purchase
Front carrier block
Bars / brake levers / grips / 3 shifter and cables off a B75 - dirt cheap

The singlespeed tensioner attaches at the axle right? So I’d still be able to run one of those on that rear triangle.
I kind of fancy trying to make it take v brakes.
I’ve been offered a (couple of) rear triangle in pm too but I’m kind of worried I’ll end up with all the bits bar the frame and getting a frame might be a sticking point. I guess there’s not much to go wrong on the mainframe?

yep, can still run the OE tensioner no trouble
I got frames... I do actually have one thats kinda beaten up, but I love it, so I would let it go for the right deal / home.
let me have a look at it in the morning and see what i plan...

Hola,
Quick question, are the ti-parts/brompifcation worth the upgrades on SJS?
Was thinking to upgrade the handlebar and seatpost to reduce the weight of the bike (weight weenie bug is coming back again, but want to sensible this time round..)
Or evening maybe going to some fancy german carbon instead...
Thoughts?

Some stuff absolutely is;
The Brompfication seatpost yes, as you don’t use a pentaclip.
Ti bars, I don’t remember them being lighter, I go for litepro ghost 580/600mm at sub 200grams
Look for a bb and headset upgrade.

Hi,
I just posted elsewhere here about possibly buying a Brompton as a main bike - what are they like to ride, heard mixed opinions. Is it just a bike for running to the train station or are they OK for general use?
The appeal is having to store the bike in a 1 bed flat it won't take up valuable space!

I would't ride mine from London to Brighton, but there are plenty out there who do on their's.
Why not rent one and try before you buy?
I have spare rims, OE ones. I would look at MiniMODs tho D
