Agreed, the original Kona forks give it a lot of character! They also complement the taper of a tig quill stem nicely as shown in the catalogue. I find Columbus Minimals can look a bit jarring on older frames, even on OS tubing. Perhaps more of a skinny bladed fork like a Tifosi or an old Time would work if you want carbon? Great project though, watching with interest!

Not too much progress here .. I did pick up some nice Rivendell tan-wall tyres which look boss. The fulcrum logos really need to go from the wheels however

After trying to decide between Argos or Bob Jackson for paint… I’ve just thought “f—k it” - I’ll just powder coat it and save £200
I have chosen a well regarded Powercoater up in Castleford - LSN coatings have a good rep on the MTB forums

Bike needs to be as cheap as possible and light as possible. Using DT shifters because. Am aiming for under 8kg

Definitely agree on fork assessment, the original one adds so much, I’d put it back on and see if the 5800 still clashes as much before unwrapping your bars?
