  • Two things.

    1. Defrosting the freezer. I have a fancy steamer permanently on loan and it makes this job a joy. However, every time it needs doing it's because I've left it too long and needs to be done right away otherwise the freezer won't close. Added to this my OH is prang about the kids food defrosting so I'm under this immense time pressure and can never do a thorough job or enjoy slicing through ice and creating bellowing clouds of steam.
    2. My home printer. Everyone has experienced the bullshittery of a rarely used domestic printer so I won't waste the keystrokes describing the usual hour long process to get four wonky pages.
  • My partner seems to have an inability to close the damn freezer, almost every time she's taken something out I'll find it a couple of 2cm open a while later. And of course by then it won't really close again because of all the new ice in the way, and guess who has to deal with it.

    Lol

    Mine does the same but she'll open the fridge, take stuff out, then continue with her business in the kitchen, fridge door wide open! When challenged over it, she's says she's still collecting stuff from it and doesn't understand my frustration.

    Often as I'm moving about the kitchen with her, I'll have to close it when I can clearly see she's been distracted by the tasks at hand. I can only shug my shoulders...

  • My folks one has an alarm, which is a really useful feature I think. Maybe have a look at that when you buy one.

    Ours came with the house and doesn't seal that well, so in fairness it's quite easy to not fully close. Plus child no.1 sometimes opens it.

    It just seems wasteful throwing something as unrecyclable as a freezer
    away for the inconvenience of having to defrost a few times a year.

    @Chalfie

    This fancy steamer, is it a kettle?

    No its my mum's massive Italian steamer. I assume she hasn't reclaimed it as its a fucker to store. But due to the time pressure I am also forced to go old school and fill up bowls with boiling water.
