The desiring machine only works by breaking down, it requires a Maj to break its linkages, expose its inner machinery and organs, slow it's progress. It is this seeming act of resistance and destruction that provides the raw materials of its production, the agitator's actions are turned against her, the flames of her arson revealed to be the furnace powering the machine itself.
