I would guess there is a fair bit of vacant retail.
Could you do something with that and have walk in bean purchasing as well to avoid change of use?

Earlier Gaggia Classic, circa 2008: the steam tap is struggling to fully shut off and it drips water from the steam wand when the machine is on. There’s a simple washer or seal that can be replaced isn’t there? Anyone know which part it is and where to get it from?

Moccamaster owners.
Have you had problems with the basket overflowing? Is it:
poor tekkers
too fine a grind
blockage somewhere
shit papersor a combo of all 4?
getting a bit fed up of overflow spill clean up aisle 4.

Hmm, I had this and replaced the valve, search internet for Gaggia steam valve. Didn't actually help all that much though, find it better after a descaling/backflushing so reckon there is some scale somewhere stopping the valve closing fully

I actually think I need to do this:
Like you say, there’s probably scale in there and the tip of that needle valve is either clogged or pitted. I thought there was a washer or seal that could be replaced, but I think I’ve got that mixed up somewhere.
Edit: it’s the first time for it to come off. I reckon I’m going to need some O rings for re-assembly. Not a job for tonight…

good luck. i've replaced mine twice since 2012 and if it's been on a while it's a fucking arsehole to get off as it needs to come straight up out of the hole in the main block, you can't lever it up and out without possibly bending/distorting something and causing damage. i found wiggling it back and forth a few mm by the spindle end a metric bastardload until you can finally get a thin bladed screwdriver under to lift it it was the only way to get it off

There sure is but none of it is really suitable. It’s very much an industrial endeavour. The problem is always the extraction for roasting, both the planning and the license for alterations from the landlord to put a 200mm pipe through the wall and up to the eaves.

I only fill mine up to the 1l line so I use 60g of coffee. If I went all the way to 1.25l I would need 75g of coffee and that will overflow. If it’s not something like that then it’s probably too fine. You do have the plastic base but attached don’t you? Without that the non-drip valve won’t open properly.

Base attached - check
I'll try 1l over 1.25.
I've emptied the grinder, banged out the shite in there, set it back to "R" of "FILTER".
Hopefully that'll fix it. -

Very sporadically and usually paper not installed properly or the flask not in proper position.

3 days in a row is a bit much.

So far so good.
Grinder set to R of filter. 60g. 1 Litre. checking the valve is open after engaging the jug. -

How old are the beans? Have they been left out in the sun?
Does it improve if you grind finer? -

In case anyone in the same situation. The plunger on my aeropress was beginning to get greasy no matter how well washed. Apparently it's a known defect and Aeropress were willing to send out replacement straight away. Bit concerning, but good to get a prompt replacement.

That’s good service. How long had you been using it?
-
• #21797
I’ll try grinding finer. The beans are about two weeks old (to me that is)
-
• #21798
Does the (to me) insinuate that they do not have a roast date? And within that two week period the coffee had changed dramatically?
-
• #21799
Roasted 02/08
I’ve got a gaggia mdf grinder and really like the way it distributes the coffee into the portafilter when you pull the lever. I weight the amount dispensed into a single shot and it was 7 grams. And the puck stuck to the shower screen.
I added slightly more in next time and it didn’t stick. But that means a pull and a quarter on the lever
