It barely did, you can set it as soft as you want or as hard.
I don’t own one but was impressed when we fitted one to customer’s bikes, it’s definitely a better alternative to a suspension, abet not w suspension replacement.
Having said that, the original Cannondale Slate was impressive when I took it out on Cannock Chase with a tiny 42mm g-one tyres.

genuinely the best thing ever, even Specialized future shock steerer feel like an 90's Apollo MTB in comparison.
