If I've learned anything about patents, it's that the drawings are pretty irrelevant. The key is what is claimed in the text. There's certainly nothing in the Ku drawing which isn't an obvious extension of prior art.

Possibly you should meet its designer, Richard McAinsh. You could have a thoroughly disputatious day or two together.
