I'm in France (arrived yesterday) and am double jabbed in the UK / have an NHS covid pass.
I can't go to any restaurants or some shops / venues like swimming pools because the French app won't accept the UK QR codes.
That doesn't feel like an edge case considering the number of people planning to or currently holidaying in France from the UK.
Fuck fuck fuck
We are booked to go to Corsica next month. Is there no way to get UK vaccine passport accepted in France?

Apparently today is the day it should start working.
Doesn't seem to be yet but will let you know. -

Looks like there is a lot of confusion as British vaccinations should be acceptable

If it helps, we've been to shops twice today and no checks were done.
Restaurants will definitely be checking though. I'll drop you a PM we get things sorted - I'm here until the 24th.

Cheers would be good to know what we have to do in advance.
UK government website is not very helpful. It has a link to a French website but I couldn’t find any English translation and the language was beyond my gcse ability to find a station, buy a croque monsieur or say my name. je m’appelle Jacques qui danse

We are travelling over on Friday.
Being French, we sort of understand how the system and the people running it work.
We have been able to add our NHS pass onto the French app (TousAntiCovid).
The app does mention (in English) to get the "checker app" to get the latest update in the event of UK passes not being read correctly.
The rule changed today I think and the police are checking. Obvs they can't check everyone everywhere but if you're going in a small place you might be OK. -

According to the gf, tho not compulsory, restaurants were asking to see proof of double vaccination and accepted the NHS app. All the people in the group were checked.

More venues mandatory by law from yesterday. €45k fines for non compliance

Yeah, I completely agree with this, and I don't think it is fair or sensible. I'm in the opposite boat, and am very happy with the UK government (for once) in that they will recognise the EU COVID passport. It means I can come back to England and see my folks for the first time in almost two years, (and pickup my new Fairlight bike, but that is obviously secondary).
What I meant was that adding the extra complication of the US, and I assume not even having a UK Covid passport (or whatever the equivalent is called), is an extra complexity that maybe isn't the biggest priority.

Wake up! It was clearly the secret vaccine test facility where all the people mutated by vaccine are having tests performed on them! Wake up! (/s/s)On a side note, partner had second jab last week, and it was like a cloud had lifted from her. Still avoiding crowds etc, but it was a massive weight off her shoulders.

Antibodies, whether from vax or infection don't last that long.
I have just had another positive antibody test through the Zoe thing.
I had it in March '20 (by symptoms), confirmed antibodies in October (home test) and January (blood sent off). Been fully jabbed since end of May.Unless I have had an extra asymptomatic second infection that I'm completely unaware of, which I'm pretty sure I haven't, i am now at 18months worth of antibodies.
In other news, just got back from a festival. Was pretty odd being around that many people. Still - I'm sure the torrential rain will have washed away the covid.

That is a fuck load longer than the 5 to 7 months that the BMJ published in a paper recently! Only one study, but still. Just shows how we still don't really know that much about the finer details of the effects of this virus yet I suppose.

Do you know which antibody tests they are giving you to do? Some look for infection antibodies, some look for vaccine antibodies, some look for both...

Anyone know if infection antibodies work on the same premise as the vaccines and go for the spikey protein on the outside or do they recognise the virus as a whole? Would your immune system attack the vaccine protein if you're infected first but then also recognise the virus as a whole afterwards?

All have been completely different and from 2 different studies.
Last one was specifically just infection antibodies, post jab. Blood sample into a jar of suff I had to send off.
Middle one was sample taken and sent away, but pre-jab.
First one was a home kit very similar to LFT from a finger prick, also pre-jab. -

It is really interesting to see how widely the various studies differ. Just hope that everybody is much more immune and for longer than previous expected...

Yeah it is. Pure luck that I have been in 2 of them I think.
First 2 tests were part of the Imperial REACT study that also gave me a dna analysis report various stuff I didn't understand from the blood they took (a few vials worth) for test 2.
Third test was part of Zoe.I'm anticipating ET-style folk to come and take me away to see why I still have antibodies given all the reports about relative shortness.

Yep, I know, just recounting the gf experience.

Day 2 tests.
Anyone got any company recommendations? Feels like a minefield of shit companies and rip-off prices.

My BiL was looking into this and found the below, not sure if it's that helpful or not.

I used collinson.
Not saying anti-vaxxers are thick but they just tried to storm the old BBC TV Centre in White City that they moved out of 8 years ago.
