Not sure it's worse than any other modern car but it's just a standard family car now and the 2022 Civic is even worse. No magic seats since 2017 either :(

It really upset me that on the MK2 MR2 headlights did not pop up with a full beam flash, the fixed lights beneath did that job (IIRC). Why, Toyota?

Always lusted after one of these. Didn't realise how quick they are! 4.7s 0-60mph in the 2.0l!

Never had AW11, but 3 x SW20.

I had my mum's old MK1 MX5 - '89 model.
What a hell of a car to drive. So much fun. Plus...

Aw11 were better, you could see the lotus influence. The later ones were made bigger and lost alot of the sweet handling.

That's what's said, but I preferred the later model. Definitely difficult to handle (I span entering a Sainsbury's car park once) but 250bhp won me over.

E21 probably Carb model :)

I remember when they made barely above scrap money...even for decent ones.

Was going to make the joke that as I am a formula one tester I know best, but the reality it is down to what you like.
The MK2, to me were over powered and not as much go cart fun as the AW11. With the suspension set up correctly (the suspension was fully adjustable as standard) the car handled amazingly. Then again I like the 1300 x1/9

There's one garaged ten seconds away from work. Had a chat to the owner about it. Still looks utterly mad in the flesh.

What's the word on OBD2 scanners. I want to find what's causing the engine light to come on in partners car.

What do you need? Lots of sensible options for cheap on ebay (hardware) that tie into free phone apps. Mine was £18-ish. App is free.

I'm an automotive quality engineer :) but have never done any work on the chassis!

To just know where to go really. Engine light came on in an MK3 clio. Will any of the scanners do?

Torque pro app and Bluetooth one.
Or get a cable and use the program jambon recommended to me a page back. -

All this chat about civics makes me curse my civic even more. The blower has a mind of its own. The garage we took it too say it’s the stat, wtf is the stat?
The auto guy did take the fan adjuster off but I didn’t see him do it and I can’t figure out how to get it off.

Banging. I've ordered it. Thanks dude. Previous owner had child seats, so I have a feeling that might be it. Will see. Appreciate the feedback

Fan? Stat could mean stator. It's the stationary bit that creates the magnetic field in an electric motor. That field drives the rotor.
I do feel pretty envious when a MK1 drives by and pops the headlights up and I just have to go with a regular flash.

Never driven an MK1 so can't comment much, but as far as I'm aware there's nothing majorly different about them underneath. At least in my Haynes manual ('89 to '04), there's not much that's either NA/NB-specific.
