  • Yeah, this in spades. It really is wild. It even goes down to the raw materials, which I didn't really think of until speaking to someone who is familiar with trying to get tubes. Reynolds are having issues supplying certain tubing because they can't get the raw materials to manufacture the tubes.

I was at my LBS last week and they were having to talk a customer through getting a rear hub because they couldn't get one through a distributor. Industry 9. 16 week wait. The customer was like 'What is Boost? What is an XDR driver? Sorry, what do I need to ask for?' etc etc.

I recently bought an entire groupset just to have in stock in case I break any parts of the group on my only bike. And I feel really lucky to have it!

  • was just looking for spare pads and thought this was excessive, am I now to consider it? https://m.bikester.co.uk/shimano-l03a-resin-disc-brake-pads-25-pieces-1107902.html

  • Apparently WTB have run out of raw rubber. It’s redic. They are literally waiting for trees to grow so they can make tyres.

  • Seems a fair price for about 100,000 miles worth of pad replacements

  • are they for R8050/R9150? if so I will go halves with you

/ might just buy the lot and divvy out at my cycling club lol

  • holy shit

  • fuck sake I just organised a semi whip around in the cycling club whatsapp group and it looks like there is a bug on the website and you can't add them to cart! shockerrrrr

  • Ah that first link was for the mobile version of the site. The normal version here is showing as out of stock :(

  • have signed up for email alerts for stock. crazy how expensive they are at the moment

  • question; why buy shimano pads?

  • I have an entire Dura Ace group that has been mounted but never ridden- maybe I should sell it.

  • Ah, that's shit sorry.

  • Sell it to me!

  • OT, but what is the difference between J03A and L03A pads?

  • L03A have different shaped fins to match the shape of Flat Mount callipers. Not sure how interchangeable they are without fouling something.

  • Sell it to me!

    This is it:

Brought it home, hung it on the wall after fitting some pedals, never been ridden (in its current form).

  • Wait…. I only painted that bike for you recently!? You’re stripping it?
Either way - I’m in need of DA9100 rim brake group set to finish my Look.

  • because uberbike are sold out ffs

  • One of my colleagues is without a set of these & his bike is useless without, an annoying problem to have - perhaps is worth considering!

Edit: ah yeah, OoS, of course.

  • Cash flow is crazy. Even though Big Bike has been raking it in from the lockdown boom, the amount of money invested in frames and parts either stuck in factories waiting for assembly or pre-ordering for 3 years time is nuts. Brands are having to take huge risks in terms of ordering just to get a production slot years in the future.
And shipping. Fuck, the price of a container is currently (or at least as of a few weeks ago) 8x the price of last year. Considering you can fit about 30 bikes in a container, that's an extra few hundred dollars or so per bike at the manufacturer level, so either margins get a lot smaller across the board or consumers will foot the bill.

  • Wait…. I only painted that bike for you recently!? You’re stripping it?

No I'm not, well - wasn't intending on it, but if you need a groupset you can have this one as I have other bikes to ride, replace it when the stock levels come back up again.

  • I see - well in that case I definitely don’t want to buy it from you if it means you stripping that bike! The bike I want DA for has R8000 in already, so it’s a complete vanity purchase and 100% non essential!

  • I ended buying Ashima pads given how ludicrous the price for anything for BR8050 is right now.

  • Can't remember if I posted this
