  • My wife has understandably never liked riding gravel and forest roads on her mixte with narrow 32mm tires, so I set out to build her a casual rigid mountainbike, that would make those sort of rides more enjoyable for her.

The purple Trek 850 is the result of that. She loves it, and I am happy with how it turned out as well. It looked like it was poorly maintained when I bought it, but it was easy to strip down, and it has almost no rust.

The Giant Coldrock is a project for myself, just for fun, and because I have wanted to build a 90's mtb as a functional ride ever since I gave my little brother my GT Karakoram. I'm going to build a pair of wheels identical to those on the Trek (I put them on the Giant for the photos and a test ride), add a silver seatpost, silver stem, silver bars, and a narrow wide chainring for 1x conversion.

The Schwalbe Hurricane tires on the Trek are awesome, but I imagine a couple of tan walls will look good with the purple frame, so they might get transfered to the Giant. Billy Bonkers or Gravelking SK are however not easy to find at the moment.

Maybe we will bring these bikes on our trip to Sweden in October, we will see...
