I’ve planted some kale and spinach and need to protect it from being eaten. I’ve got netting is there anything else I can do to avoid inevitable disappointment
I've found our spinach gets left alone, no idea why.
With Kale the thing that ruined ours last year was whitefly, I'm not sure how you stop that on an allotment where it's probably on loads of plots. Didn't bother with any brassicas this year as a result.
We built some pretty robust cages and stapled netting onto them. The kale has been pretty great under there, though all the cauliflowers bolted and I wonder if that was a result of a microclimate within the netting or something
