🕵️♂️ where you ordering from?

Cool, thanks. Might give it a go and see how dodgy the modulation is. I would just go the mini-v route but not sure whether they would fit over Gilles Berthoud 40mm mudguards.

I need a spam type email address. But it needs to be one that isn't on a block list like guerillamail. Yahoo would be my go-to as Google ones fuck with my phone account. But they want mobile numbers etc.
Can anyone recommend an alternative?
Cheers

Where nice (not fancy, just regular nice) to get a weekday afternoon cup of tea and a piece of cake with a companion in the City / Monument / Liverpool Street kind of area?
I was hoping to visit Fen Court roof garden but it's not open yet. There used to be a couple of nice little places on Brushfield St but they don't exist any more. Any recommendations? -

Could try the Skygarden. Not sure what demand is like but the cake and tea up there were decidedly workman like, but the view on a good day is something else.

if you already have a yahoo email just use one of the throwaway emails you can add to the account. delete when finished with it
like this, this is valid until deleted
guardmefromspam-throwaway@yahoo.comor for gmail do this
yourname@ gmail is the same as yourname+anythingyoulike@gmail
use the second one as your spam email, both will be delivered to yourname@gmail everything after the plus sign is ignored for delivery -

Proton mail is what I tend to use.
(Actually, that's not really the case. I pay about fifteen quid a year for my own domain so I have unlimited email addresses on there.)

Ta - no tickets for the day I need unfortunately. Also couldn't tell which of the restaurants/bars might offer cake but no matter now.

If it's not too far, the Barbican Centre lakeside terrace cafe is nice.

• #109411
Yeah cheers that's our fallback definitely!

Cheers all. Went for proton as I wanted no connection, but @freezing77 that's really useful info.

really useful info.
The user+extension@domain.tld trick works on most email servers, but since everybody knows this it does also tell people your real email address, which is presumably what you're trying to avoid. It's handy for filtering, but that's about it.
Aggi has the right idea, the modest cost of owning your own domain is money well spent, but it's much less anonymous than other solutions, so you still need to use one of the generic domains to provide cover for secret stuff.

Autotrader values my car at £150. If I insure with this as the car's value, and it gets written off at some point, will I get £150 (edit: or less)?
-
• #109415
Probably less tbh, I believe it gets valued by insurance company at time of accident. There could also be fees and excess on payout.
Although tbh I'd probably only go 3rd party and save money that way if it's worth £150.

Gonna add my £.02 worth of non-advice w/o intending to mansplain: don’t insure the car, insure yourself. If something goes wrong with that car your biggest expenses might be paying others who are affected and fixing yourself. The NHS is great but I’d expect the better private rehab clinics have better availability and more modern kit.
-replied to you in error.

Are you saying go 3rd party but with the extras? That makes sense, weirdly though 3rd party prices were coming out more expensive than fully comp. Related, does there exist some kind of tracker for insurance wholesale prices? The guy on the phone said if I wanted to reduce my milage (hardly using car these days) then the price would go up as the wholesale/underwriters price had increased since my renewal quote. I wonder if the weekend is not the best day to buy insurance, or if it works on a larger scale trend than that.

Yeah I get it'll be less, 3rd party probably makes sense at this stage, saving for a new car anyway. The Autotrader tool said £150, given it's over ten years old, 100k miles and been written off twice I guess that's probably not far off.

I’ve found the same when looking at third party. I get the feeling it’s a dead product that the mainstream insurers don’t bother offering.
-
• #109420
My impression is that it’s a nudge, like specifically overpriced dishes on restaurant menus, making the other products seem better value.

I'm having issues finding a replacement for this double spur gear. I imagine it's the kind of thing that is easy to make with a 3D printer. Anyway, I just fiddled about with a CAD image and it's all a bit fiddly because I'm on my phone. Is there a service that anyone is aware of whereby I can just send the gear to someone to reproduce?
It's for a small motor but has to deal with a decent load so bodging little RC gears isn't an option. Also means it'll have to be made of a material strong enough but I have no way of determining what exactly is it made of.

Brexit, how does it work?
As a private person I want to send a parcel with some little presents from Germany to a friend in the UK (Scotland, to be exact).
I understand I need to fill a form designating the contents and value ("CN22").Is there some sort of treshold, value-wise, from which on it generates issues (him needing to pay when receiving the parcel)?
The other way around (from the UK to Germany) they should not make a fuss if it's below Euro 45,- - yet this rule is new (from July 1st) and matter of fact I have just been charged anyways for something coming in from GB with less value.. -

The limit for gifts is £39.

Thanks for the quick reply !
The modulation goes all weird if you do that, since you end up with a steeply changing ratio between lever force and pad force.
