  • Where did you get the info that the booster is pfizer? Not arguing, just wondering as so far all I have seen is booster for the over 50's.

  • Is that bleach treatment that the tango'd twat went on about?

  • Now you ask I'm not sure as I can't find a source either at the moment. It might have been media speculation somewhere that I accepted as fact too easily. Sorry for misleading.

  • I think media has been saying that we aren't vaccinating teens as we only have enough Pfizer to do boosters, not to do boosters and teens

  • Anectdote,
Colleague's wife, suffers severe asthma, sheltered for the first wave, early double vaccine for that reason. Caught covid, very minor symptoms, really feel they dodged a bullet. Now, rightly euligising vaccination

  • I think this has been inferred in some quarters from the fact that the mix n match trial showed better protection if the second dose was an mRNA vaccine. But that was just looking at immune responses rather than real life infection, and 2 doses rather than a 3rd dose booster.

Either way I wouldn’t be surprised if they do Pfizer boosters to use up stock and switch tactics if/when variant specific boosters become available.

  • I know there's no magic guide to safe socialising, but wondering about the Delta variant - we know it's more transmissable. Previous advice seemed to be that socialising outside, at distance (>2m) was ok, nothing guaranteed of course but fairly low risk. Is that still the same for Delta variant? There seem to be a lot of infections happening from outdoor events at the moment.

  • The vaccination claimed to be less effective to the new variant (VUI-21JUL-01), but this is still early day.

  • It's been delta all year.
There were fewer outdoor events in Jan - May. All been opening up and since then, there's more outdoor events right?

Also, outdoor events like festivals/raves/full on fuckfests in the woods are not the same as sitting outside having a picnic or going for a walk right?

Also, when you're asked "where have you been" you list a load of things off, they get written down by the person asking "where have you been" these are then transcribed into exposures. You can say "there are these places and they feature in the list of where people have been" but they don't equate to "there were x many cases associated with this venue". I think. Bit tired.

  • thanks. Twitter stuff somewhat challenging my comprehension abilities.

I'm asking because I don't really know how to calibrate my personal risk assessment stuff atm. I mean, I understand that the safest option is to interact with other humans as little as possible, but I have been working with certain guidelines starting last spring and now unsure whether they carry any use at all. I also bored of not seeing people.

For a long time now my level of comfort has been 'seeing people outside, don't get too close'. But I don't know whether the risk level of doing that has changed (to a significant degree). Should it now be 'see people outside, stay further away' or 'really don't see people'. I've also tried to space out interactions, so not seeing different groups of people on consecutive days. But, I've also started taking the train more. Maybe the answer is 'shrug - who knows?' but there might also be a consensus about current transmission I'm missing (because I'm not hugely paying attention).

  • My layperson's understanding is that the risks of outdoor contact are still massively reduced; the very few cases where there's been demonstrated outdoor transmission have involved prolonged and close contact (e.g. close face-to-face conversation for >15mins). I think the assumption is still that most transmission in 'outdoor' settings (sports matches, festivals etc.) is taking place in indoor bottlenecks.

  • Seeing people outdoors with fresh air circulating and not rubbing yourself all over each other is probably ok.

Going to a disco? Less so.

If you really want to feel calmer, Medicine balls/ Dr P Hammond from private eye/Twitter is a good place.

  • Going to a disco?

    wow you are old!

  • Yes I am.

But I also wanted to reference my wannabe Balearic silverback status.

  • Ahem. Discotheque.

  • Interesting vaccination breakdown in the Graun. Not the easiest graph to read, but about 1 in 5 in their 40s and around 1 in 3 in their 30s have not had any vaccination at all. Wow. I didn’t have any particular figures in my head but I wasn’t expecting it to be that high.

  • Why doesn't it show any day for people whose age is in the latter half of a decade?

  • It does. It’s every second bar

  • I'm talking levan, mancuso, siano.

  • It does. Phe supplies this data from nims in 5 year age bands. 18-24 and 25-29.

The axis is crammed and 25-29 is marked on there

  • Or. What soul said

  • Wait till they show you the comparison between different ethnicity.

  • No misleading, not more anything more that the idea of a booster is being considered, then that the booster is being considered for over 50s. Then I stopped actively noticing as all the comments were noting considered.

To think that I got Pfizer, (and all the comments I got when I discussed it) as it would be interesting to be study sample with all the meds I take. Give my blood every month, and I get some info back.

  • Been speaking to a french anti vaxxer. They work in in a pharmacy in France, not a pharmacist just an assistant, but she knows every thing about medicine and is convincing people not to take any vaccine because you don't know what is in it. This same person tells people not to take anti depressants as it is more unknown chemicals in your body.

This person is a 'new' friend of my GF and they have been seeing psychics together. GF is now all about what the charlatans have told her...oh and psychics are real.
