Speed climbing is perfect. It's weird, it's a timed sport. There's a clear winner/loser/fastest.
It's in.
I love that Aussies won skateboarding and how pumped they all were for each other but it's judged so unless they start doing "highest", "most" or "fastest" it's out.

The governing body of the Bellyflop Championships have appealed for Brisbane inclusion.

The skating the last couple of days was much better to watch than the street earlier in the games.
Yeah, the pool stuff I saw just now was heaps better than the street stuff.

amazing! back flip bellyflop at the end was sublime

They should have brought in downhill long boarding instead purely for the rad leathers and helmets

Agreed, I like the premise but I want a marathon version of it, not 6 seconds where a single slight mistake basically means that person just stops.
shame about the skateboarding but rules are rules.

Race walking is ridiculous.
Just run or walk.
They look like a coach party passive-aggressively aiming to outdo each other to be first to the petrol station toilets.

It still brings drama to the games!

^ many a night out has ended this way for me.

I'm still watching it... it's hypnotic.*
It's like those videos of the morning after massive outdoor raves in the early 90s, if you'd rounded up a load of them and asked them to try to run a race.
It's also sad how much faster they are than my running PBs.
*I meant the race itself but the gif too.

hypnotic
Both are, yes.
3h03m for 40km. That's a sub 3h15 Marathon I reckon with energy to carry on for 3 more miles and then 8 more Furlongs at that pace still...
It looks a done deal for Gold, I'm off to bed.

Women's final of the Madison is on live at the moment, good job the commentators are their to tell me we are doing well
-
• #1240
I turned off the walking with about 7km to go, I assumed the Polish guy would just waddle on to victory and he did.
-
• #1241
I find Madison races too stressful to watch sometimes. Too many races, too many different speeds, and too sketchy (as the crashes in this race so far show).
-
• #1242
this is me casually scrolling through the gravel thread when I see someone post another drop bar MTB monstrosity
-
• #1243
I wish they would tell me about the very bright helmets...??
-
• #1244
Isn't it just to distinguish them from the Russians in a very similar kit?
-
• #1245
If GB and France take a lap it's going to get even harder to tell what's what.
I don't know if they get extra points for catching the group, or whether they would keep taking 5 points from somewhere in the bunch if they did.
-
• #1246
This is what I had presumed. Bit garish mind.
-
• #1247
Yes. USA and France will look similar too when you're cross-eyed with efoort. very clever.
-
• #1248
This is next level shit from GB in the madison. Total domination
-
• #1249
The Aussie bikes are lovely. Up there with look in the looks comp. hope less so

Almost unfairly dominant. They made the sprints look easy, and what a gap at the end.
Really enjoyed the climbing and park skating, thought they both made good spectacles. The skating the last couple of days was much better to watch than the street earlier in the games. Yesterdays super heavyweight weightlifting was fun as well, would be a shame to see weightlifting kicked out the Olympics.
