  • Cheers. I think the eight pedal limit helps… I think…

I have some heavy hitter digital pedals (Strymon/Meris/Eventide) that I use on synths and I’ve been wondering if it would be worth making space for a crazy reverb or something, or indeed having a separate board for modulation / craziness / ambient stuff. But for now this is fun to muck about with.

Will probably go through a bunch of fuzzes and drives over the next month. Actually just got a new one today, will post a pic tomorrow when I get to try it out…

  • Am in the mood for a fuzz, let me know if selling any on.

  • So you know how strats are fucking shit and only massive pricks play them? Well...

I bloody love this one, it's an absolute joy to play every time I pick it up and it's so musical!! Tunes just leap out of it, bell like tones for days... The refret was a really good investment... Must be an advanced middle aged thing... #pleasekillme

    😂

Yeah the “default” Strat thing makes me itch. I grew up playing one with Lace Sensors though, because that was what I had access to, and I didn’t mind because I was into Smashing Pumpkins (prick thing checks out). They are very setup dependent with the trem though.

That Tokai looks great. Fender do a Mexican one in that colour at the moment that looks pretty decent.

  • @rickster will tell you, I bought this one sight unseen out of the back of Vintage Guitar magazine in '97/'98 from some guy in Japan... I was on a total Tokai jag at the time, this was way cheaper than a Springy Sound of the same era, which was what I really wanted... IIRC it was just over £100, super cheap... They're still pretty cheap these days just not £100 cheap...

  • I think it seems almost predictable that his current signature is covered in mirrors. I still want one though

  • I only liked the heavy stuff, and Gish/SD era they were a killer live band. He completely lost me with Mellon Collie, there were a couple of good tracks on that and then just zzzzzzzzz.....

I see the "Deluxe Edition" of Mellon Collie on Spotify has 92 tracks. 🙄

  • all essential listening I am sure 😂

  • corgan is froth mouthed right wing libertarian shithead who regularly appears on InfoWars. Avoid sending any money his way if at all possible.

  • while I'm far from a regular listener I was surprised not to have heard about that – what the actual fuck

  • ^^

    prick thing checks out

  • Missed this, will do. New pedal is a drive but there is a fuzz on the GAS list that I’m tempted to try…

  • ^^^^love that tokai man. An early 90s mex strat was my first proper guitar and I was a strat devotee for ages till I burned out on them. Spent the next 20 years as a tele obsessive and am only now trying semis and gibsons. Lovin’ the journey but would love to find a great strat too.

  • She’s great. Such a chill channel and she works on some great amps.

  • I sold my first Strat to one of my wife's cousins a few years back. I might offer to buy it back. I think it would be a 93 or 94. It has a massively thick poly finish and it weighs a ton tho. Maybe i'll leave it be and keep an eye out for something else.

I had a brainwave the other day and remembered the Highway 1 series and though they might be a good s/h bargain 20 years down the line. They seem to be hard to find and wildly overpriced tho. Meh.

  • FFS - just went on reverb and found that my account has been suspended for not responding to a sale leading to a refund. I'd forgotten I even had the bass listed (it's been up on there for about a year with no offers) on an account that's linked to an old email that apple had helpfully logged me out of during a software update. I was also away on holiday so had been away from the nets and hadn't noticed any activity on the reverb app.

I'd tried to reconcile my two reverb accounts before but found it impossible due the circular nature of their admin processes. Guess I'll need to give it another go. FFS, if i'd noticed the sale that could have funded a new board, pedal or started a partscaster build.

I think the cat’s out of the bag on that one. Cory Wong has famously used a pair of them his whole career, up to the signature Strat that he just got this year.

Interesting signature model actually, they let him have a slightly smaller body and there is a ton of shaping on the back around the neck heel.

  • Cory Wong winds me up. I mean he really annoys the living shit out of me.

  • I don't even know who he is, I've seen that signature guitar... Should I YouTube him?

  • Just checked him out on some gear interview thing, wanted to punch him after two minutes...

  • So punchable

  • Any recommendations on a fuzz pedal and a baritone guitar?

I tend to like scooped muff stoner fuzzes but it'd be nice to have the option to cut through the mix a bit. I also like stacking 'em up.

And baritone wise I've a real hankering for something with a nice tremolo arm and a sparkle paintjob - some of those Gretsches look great but I've not been super impressed with the way many of the modern ones play. Not sure if that's just my experience tho.

  • I've been eyeing up the Fender Bass VI very recently (that and a twelve string electric), I've got a hankering to play Jet Harris type stuff and the Crossroads theme tune... Obvs...

  • Heh! That Jay Harris thing is heavy AF
