  • 10s and 11s chainrings are probably wider than the 12s version which might result in the 12s chain not to engage correctly on the teeth. The 12s chain is 5.19mm wide vs 5.9mm for the 10s for instance.

  • I've managed to get hold of a 12 speed chain and it does seems fit on a 10 speed chainset.

    I'm going to slowly pick up all the groupset parts except the chainset and see how well they work together. may take a while...

  • The chainline is different between 10/11sp and HO 11sp/12sp.

    The chain will fit but it might not engage as well as it should on chainrings and jockey wheels, as @MementoMori said.

    Whatever changes you make, mixing 11sp and 12sp Campagnolo will work. Initially, anyway. But shifting will get worse over time. Ask me how I know. With the exception of the front der. You can happily use an 11sp front der with 12sp shifters. But the rear der and shifters would obviously need to be changed at the same time.
