there must be a way to let him know there's a gap.
It's on the following rider to shout "hold" before the gap grows too big, and the front rider to adjust. Hard to do & be heard when going full pelt. Pretty sure we can hear rider 2 (Laura Kenny?) shout hold here at about 2m32s of the video (3m30 into their round 1 ride) the gap appears about a lap and a half after as the effort blew the line apart.

Edit: Coach can only communicate to the team appx every 15s and can at best get 1 syllable across, which is why they "walk the line" as non-verbal feedback.

For the shouting Dane, I think he thought it was the 4th Brit getting in his way or something. Why else would there be a single rider getting in his way and also with such a difference in speed. I do agree though he needs to keep his composure. But all in all, they caught the other team in the pursuit, so rightfully finalists.
It looks like the Dane has now admitted he knew it was the 3rd GB rider ahead, he just didn't know how far ahead he was. Which suggests he knew in advance somebody was there. And that his team mates avoided the crash suggests they all knew, as they rode past because they were looking up, not down. Essentially, the mis judgement was about how slow the GB rider was going coupled with the Dane not looking ahead.
Denmark's Frederik Rodenberg Madsen has explained why he ploughed into Great Britain's Charlie Tanfield during the Olympics team pursuit.
"I was so tired at that point I didn't know if he was 10 or 20 metres away from me""I hope Charlie is okay. It's awful that this happened in an Olympic semi-final."
Just caight up with that Den-GB team pursuit. A rare sight seeing GB fucking it up like that, dropping man3. At 60+ kph it's quite hard to coach, but there must be a way to let him know there's a gap.
