Whatever the reason, that’s some mad soldering skillz.

Aha. Still mental.

Imagine that moment when you realise you've wired it all back-to-front!

Looks polyester enamel dipped to me.

Still awesome to see though! Insane soldering!

Aye. It's also oddly reassuring. Modern tech has increasingly gotten rid of craftsmanship and even the ability to to repair anything you own, so to see people have found a new kind of space for artful bodging is nice. Even though I still go "Aaurgh!" every time I look at the picture.

Artful Bodger. Must be a repair shop called this somewhere, surely? Otherwise a vacant niche for someone.

Looks like a rather extreme variant of "dead bug" soldering

Speaking of climate change, Windy is a lovely free app, but also quite depressing. In the news rn we see the heat wave in the mediterranean and forest fires in Turkey. This is the Co2 concentration on Windy, which more oe less shows where the fires are

What’s the deal there? Are they setting the blocks on fire one at a time?
-
• #11721
who knows. absolute madness.
-
• #11722
I read something about this, apparently the way the tyres are stacked with all the density & air gaps etc and the nature of rubber means that basically mass tyre fires are really really difficult to put out. Horrible.

That's Obvious Plant, whose handle is a bit of a giveaway. Most of these are fake products, but he does sell a few of his jokes.

It will be lacquered, like motor or transformer windings.
