That Gitane frame looks great.
How did you remove the decals from the Archetypes? -

Thanks. I’m really please with how it turned out. Only annoyance was that it needed a stupid 26.6mm seatpost which I only found out after buying a 26.4 and finding it was too small; after fitting and making completely non-returnable obvs!
I used acetone to get the decals off the rims. However; I urge extreme caution. The rear rim is a good few years old and although the print came off very easily, there are very obvious ‘shadows’ remaining. Possibly due to sun fade?! I don’t know.
The front however was a brand new rim and the lettering was a real swine to remove. It’s very ‘thick’ and I found once the chemical breaks through the surface you sort of end up rubbing and smudging white paint around. You’ll get the worst of it off but to be honest, if this was one of my better bikes I’d be upset with the results!
Maybe there’s a better solution or some technique I don’t know about… -

Wasn’t planning on wasting too much money on this but couldn’t resist the lure of an utterly pointless upgrade to a Nitto cockpit. Gone back to Vittoria Zaffiro in 28mm tyres too.
The lifelines were hardy as hell but a bit too hard for my liking, especially noticeable as I ride corsas on my other bikes. These sit somewhere in between on the comfort scale.

Nothing much new; the Rourke's now gone to the bay and I have a French heap of iron to lug backwards and forwards to work instead. A much better fit though!
