  • I use Cinelli Kaleido.
More for the colourful bits than anything else.

    It lasts forever though.

  • That kinda looks like it has a similar feel/finish to the Arundel I've got, the Spesh stuff is sort of suedey feeling eva foam that has quite a bit of stretch to it.
The search continues, or I'll just buy the pink, then get black when it becomes available again.
Whilst you're here, which seatpost did you get in the end?

  • Re GPS , I would say that A wahoo element Bolt would be a good starting point , simple and intuitive to use , I have used various computers over the years and the Etrex's mentioned before are great and robust but a little annoying to use where as the Wahoo offerings are very straight forward.

  • Yeah it's like fake leather. I think they do another version that's more rubbery like Lizard Skinz.
This stuff from Fizik might be good if you like it suedey.

Re seatposts, I found an S-Works one on ebay. Very spendy new but Pro PLT is similar for a lot less (I bought one for my Dawes). Side-loading clamps have been something of a revelation for me - they're the least fiddly clamps in the world!

  • Bike24 have more than 50 rolls of the stuff and no one else has any... Thanks Brexit!

  • Bloody Brexit!
I have a Pro LT on the genesis, decent, if a little long. Probably go for the PLT version eventually.
I'm gonna put the Arundel on for a trial run, but as a back up my lbs have stuck pink Roubaix tape under the counter for me (they had 3 lots left 1 pink, 1 aqua, and a white). Pink may funky a very muted bike up a bit?

  • Is the tape for the Winston bike? Why not go pink... If it looks shite, buy some cheapo black stuff until there's more Roubaix in stock.

The S-Works post was also a little long so out came the hacksaw... butchering brand new, high end bike parts is an exciting feeling!

  • Pink for Winston bike, I have black Arundel to put on tonight (so I can ride tomorrow), then I'll grab the pink tape tomorrow on my way home.
You do like to butcher stuff, I to will get the hacksaw out the shed soon (can afford to lose about 150mm).

  • It's a bar tape that'll eventually get changed, once you ride it you won't be looking down that often.

  • More the feel of it Ed, got silicone on the Genesis (feels great, grippy, but gets quite sweaty), Roubaix has always served me well, just fitted the Arundel Gecko (feels ok, fuckin awful to wrap, had to redo a bit, so unwound it and the bastard sticky tape was stuck to the layer below, will not buy again, would not recommend).
    Pink it is!

  • Give the people what they want, another quality photo of my bike.
All done for now, derailleurs need fettling, bartape needs changing, then it needs riding.

  • Ta very much.
Today's weather forecast tells me 19°, cloud, and a gentle breeze, perfect weather for a ride ( not too hot, no chance of sunburn, and a slight wind to blow my flowing locks about).
Not quite what I see out the window, it's fuckin shitting it down!

  • Looking good!

  • Wait for the next pic. Pink bartape is certainly gonna brighten things up (forever riding in sunglasses).

  • The rain eventually stopped today, so went out on Winston bike for the initial shakedown ride.
Just a short bimble (about 15 miles), the soundtrack to my ride was the gentle hum of Pasela on broken tarmac (and when I stopped pedalling, the angry wasp overture of a Hope rear hub).
Things to change? Very little, cosmetically (and so the Genesis is just a wheel/tyre swap from being rideable) a Ritchey stem to go with the bars, probably a C220 or Toyon, a more subtle (less logoed) seatpost, Pro PLT maybe, and that's about it.
Rather enjoying the splash of colour that Spesh Roubaix bartape brings to the party. On the subject of bartape, I really cannot recommend Arundel Gecko, considering it had been on less than 12 hours (gave it a whirl to get me to the lbs) I would have expected the backing tape to have stayed on, but in places it stayed on my bars, and where it overlapped the layer below, it ripped the bartape, lesson learned, stick with what you know/like (no matter the colour).

What width are the Panaracer Pasela tyres you have fitted (it's not quite readable from your photograph)?

  • Excellent, now that look super fun to ride (and still puzzled to why you have a Genesis which technically is inferior to the Winston!).

  • Very good. I want one.

  • Pink tape is a massive improvement. Looks great

  • Mine…

  • The Paselas are 38mm @Nick_S
It was a rather enjoyable experience @edscoble, and don't worry about me owning two similar bikes, it's just nice to have a choice sometimes
@atk, I know a man that can build you one
@Psmith I'm really rather pleased with how it looks, for some reason I thought it was a bit more baby pink (maybe the lighting in the shop), but I like the brashness of it.

  • Ah you have posh Paselas on that. Very nice, had it long?

  • Looking good man! Pink is a winner as far as I'm concerned.

  • That is lovely!
Also would love to know if it's new.
