Would this take a modern groupset. (I don't meant di2 or anything - just a decent sized range of gears).

Most definitely; the rear spacing is 130mm. You can use modern shifters as well, you just need to fit some downtube cable stops which are readily available.

I no longer require this one as i'm downsizing my collection.
It has a rather funky purple and fluro yellow paint job and looks very cool. Internal rear brake routing, 27.2mm seatpost, 130mm rear spacing and takes up to 25mm tyres.
Approx measurements:
Seat tube centre to top = 50cm
Toptube centre to centre = 54cm
Various paint chips and light surface rust but no dents or cracks. Threads good.
