Funny enough I mentioned this over the weekend, and looked into it.
Apparently there needs to be an active participation in 75 countries (men's sports) or 40 countries (women's).
Netball is mainly popular in commonwealth countries,so doesn't reach a wide enough audience at this time.Doesn't explain why cunting about on a horse is in the Olympics (or even a fucking "sport" in the 1st place)

Bit of both. Big nations have full time 7s programs who play the World Series. But some also add in a few big name stars from 15 a side like Semi Radrada for Fiji. If people don’t know who he is check him out, one of the finest physical specimens you can ever see. Some also do a bit of both, I assume because they don’t make much doing 7s so need a cash boost and I guess get some fitness.
Amazingly after silver in Rio GB pulled funding for their 7s team and they all had to get jobs or 15 contracts -

Too dangerous for her to continue.

Especially 10m air rifle. Zzzz
Doesn't exactly require athletic prowess does it.

The UCI official in the start house needs someone to teach her how to properly do the 5-4-3-2-1 countdown with her fingers.
Amateurish.

You lot would probably be quite surprised how much core strength and aerobic conditioning goes into competing at the highest levels of target shooting. Not suggesting its a physically intensive sport, but its much more involved than just practicing shooting all day every day.

In the mens coxless 4s the GB boat nearly rammed the italians in the next lane. it was wild
Happy for Japan to win as hosts but can't see me tuning in regularly if that is the pinnacle of the sport. Still better than horse dancing though.
