That 2.5 mile journey to Garelochhead station is pretty straightforward.

12 viewings booked so far, had 4 of them in today
everyone seems to really like the place and at least two of the 4 from today were not part of a chain, which is good to know.
I asked people whether they'd feel better with a guided tour or whether they wanted to look around themselves and it was 50/50. Does the forum have a take on which approach is better? Any other tips for showing people about your home?

Handy for watching submarines …. Let us know if they all leave at once.

About 2 miles from my parents. Better views round the corner.

Can anyone recommend a clothes rail with plastic / dust-proof / moth-proof cover?
We're losing some of our hanging space and figure it might be time to put something proper in the loft to store and rotate coats, etc. through the seasons.
Alternatively if anyone knows of decent quality clothes bags I've got a few wall mounted rails I could use to make my own.
Cheers.

At some point next year I’d like to redo my bathroom. I’ll get a plumber in to do anything technical but I’d like to try tiling myself. Has anyone got any recommended videos to watch? I know I’m likely to fuck it up a bit but I’d like to give it a go!

I've no experience of tiling but did think about doing some myself once.
Some things that come to mind: surface preparation (including waterproof the wall?); And trying the layout using tiles stuck on with blutack to help dial in where cuts to tiles are needed.

How strong/durable is it? Could you load it up with winter coats?
I'm a bit torn between something like that and clothes bags as I've got height in the loft...actually both would be a good middle ground.

You really need to plan the layout before you start. The general rule is to start central so that the edges have an even sized cut both sides of the wall. Don't be afraid to shift that if it means they are tiny cuts. Also think about how the tiles are going around the door if doing ceiling to floor).
I discovered these on the last tiling job I did and they made levelling the tiles much easier. Also, staggering (like brickwork) can make it slightly easier because you don't have to make four corners flat at the same point.
Get a good manual tile cutter and a 6" angle grinder with tile cutting disc
My last effort:

Strong enough for what it can hold, which isn't loads, maybe 10 winter jackets, depends how Gucci your furs are.

Idk, but after lockdown 1 (and no viewings at all) we had a spate of viewings and the one that made a decent offer and we are exchanging with soon - I did the viewing.

I love the look of this place, but it's a bit big and it's quite expensive.
Do such a thing exist that are maybe 60% scale versions?

Yes, but not that common to have the garden and garage. The houses are quite big there, so maybe trinity where they are a bit smaller? Mews house for the garage? There have been newer builds selling on our road which have garages and balconies, one had a garden too. Around 800k I think with the garden.

There are also roads in Morningside which will have a smaller house with garden and garage but probably a similar price to that

What’s Finchley like?
-
• #47422
Lovely, thanks. That looks amazing!
-
• #47423
Large and varied. East Finchley is, for example, very different to North Finchley. Generally all fairly dull though, but quiet.

One other tip - never use pre-mixed adhesive or grout, it is shite!

Anyone see that George Clarke's Remarkable Renovations last week? 50k for that building was unreal
