The Dutch cyclists.

All "judged" sports are banned in my Olympics too.
"Actually any sport that is judged rather than timed, or otherwise measured, should get to fuck as well. Someone's opinion shouldn't be deciding Olympic medals. Yes, that means your batton twirling bullshit wouldn't qualify for hippy's olympics either. "

You can't get rid of the diving now. Pretty much the national sport here as of today.
-
• #482
Didn't we talk about sports that were just people falling off stuff already?

Boxing banned as well? Or get rid of the judges and make it only win by KO?
-
• #484
Don't seem to be able to find any water polo matches. That's usually a pretty brutal 40 minutes.
-
• #485
Yep. Fight to the death only.

The Dutch were expected to do well in this, but all their horses drowned.
-
• #487
Also whilst on boxing, why aren't there light heavyweight, heavyweight and super heavyweight categories for women's boxing?!

Weightlifting is a judged sport...would be a shame to lose that. Unless of course you somehow make weightlifting "no rules"

IE Crossfit....amirite?

Judging a complete lift isn't the same as judging the results. The result is the weight.
Weightlifting stays.
-
• #491
Right on! And get shot of all other combat sports. Greco-Roman wrestling?! Behave.
-
• #492
when are the IOC adding posting is what I want to know
-
• #493
Baby oil wrestling would be prime time in my Olympics.
-
• #494
I think they try to roughly match the weight divisions for male and female boxers and there probably aren't enough 75kg+ female boxers to put on an Olympic competition.
-
• #495
Greco-Roman wrestling?!
Surely thats one of the best Olympic sports of all! Also culturally important to loads of countries.

I preferred the sound of weight lifting with no rules. Valid lift if you get the weight above your head...doesnt matter how.

If you removed the judges and just made a tap board that was height adjustable then that problem is solved. Much like swimmers have to tap the end of the pool, weight lifters have to raise the bar some % off the ground or above their head relative to their height.
Computers > Humans ftw
Or laser sensors or location devices on the bar itself. Lots of ways I'm sure.

I thought this had been resolved already. The vast amount of swimming events was due to the cold war, cause russians don't swim?
-
• #499
It's not resolved if I'm hearing about people getting medals for doing 1 of 3 inferior strokes in the pool.
Also, didn't Popov (love that name) win gold in the 90s

Flyweights are off by 1kg and then feather, light, welter and middle are all the same kg limits for men and women. Get your point but still feels discriminatory.
At least they aren't subjective. Better than 'who's best at twirling a stick and ribbon around'
