  • I’ve never regretted buying good tools, I’ve often regretted buying shit ones.

  • Tool Tetris is hard.

  • What's a good, pocket sized set of hex keys for daily use? I only really need the 4,5 and 6mm usually. Decent quality but not too expensive (because I'll inevitably lose it). Tool FBNPNA I suppose.

  • I like the Topeak pocket ratchet, really handy tool and you can choose which bits you carry- I always have it in my pocket when riding.

  • Good means Wera or Swiss tools set of keys. If you're gonna lose them, just go for a set of Park tools multitool.

@Dammit Is this all your complete tool kit or stuff you carry with you? bearing press seems a bit...overkill for carrying with you..

Also...forget that stupid chain whip, I recommend this
Quicklink pliers award goes to Park, they do both attaching and detaching. Daily use for years and still going strong.

If you insist on using Park for chain breaker, at least get the sliding one. I works without bullshit.

  • @Dammit Is this all your complete tool kit or stuff you carry with you? bearing press seems a bit...overkill for carrying with you..

It's the kit for sticking in the car, and yes the bearing press is a bit overkill I agree. My thought process was to include everything that could be needed to maintain my full suspension bike, apart from suspension internals.

The Pedro Vice Grip II is cool, but looks huge - is it smaller than the Park chain whip?

  • Fair do's. Figuring out what you can truly carry is nice.
    My shit is everything everywhere.

The grips are simply awesome. They're shorter, but wider. They however, never slip, and give you confident grip.

  • I did suggest master link pliers that also fit them, Park seems like a tidy option thinking about it. And a more modern chain tool.

  • I have so many chain tools, and I use them so infrequently. Which one are you chaps talking about? The most recent one I bought was the Park one that does Campag with the peening anvil etc.

I see what you mean about the Park master link pliers, I’ll get some of those.

  • It seems like space saving is a priority for you?
With that in mind, any tool that does what you need/what this one already does for you, but a bit tidier/smaller.
The peening Park one is even chunkier than the current one right?

  • Yes, which is why it is in the big toolbox still.

  • Yes! Always looking for an excuse to use my Neji-saurus

Told a friend to get a pair to remove a rounded bolt from a Etap front mech and it worked a treat. He was about to try drill it out! eek

  • My PZ-63 Neji-Saurus doesn't arrive until the middle of next month 😅 gives me time to plan a tool case I suppose. Cleaned out my toll bag last night and there are plenty of holes to fill in the kit.

  • I use their cobra wrench as my pocket size do anything grip. Can adjust the huge nuts on a four bar gate down to installing parts on the coffee machine.

  • Aw yeah. We deserve a proper anime version.

  • Megadora has arrived. Video isn't as cool as Neji-saurus.

  • As per the discussion on the "noises" thread, I found a brand new Park Tools BB bearing press, still in its packaging in the cupboard. IIRC they sent it out, it went to the wrong house, they refunded me and then it turned up weeks later anyway. I unwrapped it and confirmed there's a press inside but having twiddled the bearings I want to keep them in for the 12hr and maybe I'll change them out later. But yeah, so many tools I've not even unwrapped the bastards.

I'm in the market for a new Philips head with the hardest fucking tip around (ooh nurse). My old one is looking a bit ragged and I'm constantly dealing with screws that some monkey with a fucking battery powered screwdriver has rounded fuck out of.

Cheap, strong, magnetic, hammerable, big grip for power, hex for using with a spanner.

  • Not to be used as a chisel though.

  • They look pretty good. Can I get a set that has wifi torque recording or something though? I don't want to seem poor in the "tool porn" thread. ;)

  • Hahaha

  • Ok, I did want a set of those fancy pliers, but now what I really want is a tiny dinosaur assistant
