This must result in floods somewhere in London.

Got stuck under a tree somewhere between Camberwell and Peckham when it kicked off. Managed to move to a covered alleyway and wait it out till it eased. Never been out in rain that heavy in the UK. Had a mate tell me it's completely dry in Lewisham though.

My bilge pump is on the fritz, so my boat engine bay for starters...

Worcester Park, bottom of the high street 30 mins ago. Family in the silver car won't get out and were waiting to be rescued by the fire brigade who had just arrived. People in the other car didn't hesitate to get out according to the police.

Thanks, it's always those lowered bridge underpasses that get it. There must be a way of improving drainage there.

That's the worst I've seen it in 20 years, the council did make an effort to clear the drains regularly after it flooded badly there a few years ago.

Was it a flash flood, or did the drivers just think they'd get through? Not quite sure how two cars got into that situation, one should have been a warning to the other.

It usually gets up to kerb level in heavy rain, but this was torrential rain for 45 mins or so !
