If you’re riding in the gutter CCW the curvature means you can only see a very short distance ahead. If you’re riding fast that means not much time.
Doesn’t take much of a lapse in concentration for the worst to happen.
(Also crashing into parked cars is fairly common, by cyclists and drivers alike)
