That does seem very. I know the police forces can be stretched very thin but this seems like a serious crime?
I saw recently a girl was hit by a car driver who failed to stop. It took her mother going to look for camera and retrieve the CCTV footage as the police were failing to do anything.

I thought this was a good instance:
Dyfed-Powys police said officers received reports of a disturbance and that a dark green car was driving erratically and dangerously in the area. The force added the reports suggested the vehicle had possibly collided with some pedestrians and the pillar of a shelter on the promenade.
Just why did they arrest those people and not the car?

Blackheath crash live: Updates as car smashes into 'iconic' tea hut
Hopefully the police will be able to work out whether someone was actually driving the car when the crash happened. It's certainly not clear from the article.

The 80-metre-long armed vessels would have the power to halt, inspect and impound all EU fishing boats operating within the UK’s exclusive economic zone (EEZ), which can extend 200 miles from shore.

(EEZ), which can extend 200 miles from shore.
Operating word being ‘can’. The actual EEZ around most of the UK is laughably far from being 200miles. See pic. The EEZ around the overseas territories are a different matter, and part of the reason for having them.

Driverless cars, eh?
-
• #137
Pretty sure any news article on a collision involving a driverless car will be sure to include that info, and probably in the title. But still will not blame a human.
Collision involving driver = Cars fault
Collision involving no driver = Technologies fault -

https://www.rc-rg.com/guidelines
If you’re talking about a driver, say a driver, not
their vehicle. This is particularly important when
describing actions such as speeding, or leaving the
scene of a crash. If little is known in the aftermath
of a crash, initially describe human actors as e.g.,
‘driver and cyclist in collision’ or ‘two drivers in
collision’, before mentioning vehicles. Where details
of the crash are known, or one human actor is clearly
particularly vulnerable (or slow-moving), such as
pedestrians or children, publishers may find it more
accurate to say one person ‘hit’ the other, e.g., ‘driver
hit a child in a pushchair’, or ‘driver hit a man crossing
the road -

A journalist responds;
These idiots, for example, want every road accident depicted as a
deliberate offence committed by car drivers and for cyclists'
involvement to be completely omitted from reporting. It's laughable
and the industry trade mag shouldn't be giving it the oxygen of
publicity. -

given this is his twitter profile bio

Its interesting that his characterisation of guidelines is the mirror image of the status quo.

Another journalist responds:
The public would be the first to be outraged if an elderly lady was
plastered in the papers with 'driver kills child in tragedy' when the
truth was that she left the handbrake off while parked and it rolled
backwards without her knowledge, hitting the kid. Facts matter!https://twitter.com/conor_matchett/status/1399750106166042630

Wow!
Killing by negligence is still killing. Facts matter! -
• #144
As he is Captain of Middlesex rifle team perhaps he should be asked to explain the difference between an Accidental Discharge and a Negligent Discharge.(I’m not on Twitter or I would).
(Accidents are due to a fault with the gun everything else is negligence). -

Maybe just because it's obvious that a car is driven by a driver?
-

Read this:
-
• #148
Here's another one. It does mention the driver eventually, but contains this:
Police believe a VW Golf mounted the pavement just after the junction of Philpot Street, hitting a lamp post and the pedestrian.
It then drove less than half a mile towards Cavell St before it smashed into another parked car, police said.
Another completely pointless 'life-changing' injury.
