Boxing definitely does have the acclaim.
It does but my point is the fighters aren’t at the top of their game. It’s more of a stepping stone on their way into the upper echelons of the sport.
Hmm true, it’s also complicated with the fact that traditionally and to a lesser extent still, it’s the height for some nations USSR, Cuba being the obvious.
They are the best at amateur boxing, which I would argue is almost a different sport.
Track cycling is also a stepping stone for some.
