  • I totally forgot to post about this on here! Been one of those years...

Anyway. It's a couple of weeks until ThunderCrit returns and this time it's going to be across 2 days at Herne Hill. All of the important information is at https://thundercrit.com/

Entries are open (just £25 for entry to both days), all are welcome - have read about our new genderless categories here . It doesn't matter if you are an experienced rider or not, there's a space for you on the start line.

We've got our largest ever prize fund and you don't even need to be able to win a race to win some of the main prizes. Prize breakdown here

We're looking for volunteers and spectating is free as always, but I'm waiting on confirmation of any restrictions we might need to put in place according to what happens over the next few days.

The first day of racing will be on the "Tech" circuit, which is short and tight and will be lots of 5 lap races with plenty of action. The racing should start from 3pm and go through to 8/9pm at the latest.

The second day will be on the "Power" circuit, which makes use of the velodrome banking and as much tarmac as possible to create a fast multi lap race to crown the ThunderCrit champions. These races start from midday on the Sunday.

  • Got scared about signing up to ride so I've signed up to volunteer instead

  • Nice one mate. It’s not that scary tbh, the Saturday circuit is good for spinny gears and just getting round. Short races designed to get the best bike handlers into the Advanced category for the Sunday race.

  • Sounds amazing, I’d love to do one of these sometime.

  • Do this one

  • Yeah, to be fair. This is going to be one of the quietest ThunderCrits we've done competitor wise. There's a lot of short races on the Saturday to get used to racing Fixed Crits without worrying about getting dropped or lapped out. It's definitely a good one for beginners.

  • Ah fuck it. In.
(Unless you want me to Medic- I'm ok at that).

  • Can confirm ^

  • I wish life was that simple!

  • 👏👏👏
Hopefully no need for medic skills!!! Enjoy the racing :)

  • do you need to be accredited at HHV to enter?

  • No, this isn’t a track race so no accreditation needed.

  • do you have to do both days?

  • You don’t have to do both days.

You can ride Saturday only, but you can’t ride Sunday only.

  • Re-assessing the norms of gendered racing is very interesting. And bravo for that NLTCBMBC.

  • Thanks!

It's a step in the right direction and hopefully we can build on it further with future events.

  • Closing entries at 10am tomorrow.

Then I've got hours of sorting out the tournament layout and timings :)

  • Couple of things have screwed my planning for this up- so won't be racing- good luck all.
Will still be there to support/heckle.
Next year when a bit more confident on the bike- I'll be keen.

  • Next year when a bit more confident on the bike- I'll be keen.

Likewise, perhaps we can join together next year for moral support and matching lufgus skin suits

  • For sure. I'd like to go to some of the training sessions beforehand also.
