that sounds brutal! I thought I had it bad, but I relent.
I just stuck a pee pad by the back door on 2nd night, but since a few nights back he's not used it and wakes me up at 7am to go toilet now.
It's more the not wanting to be alone - barking all the time - that is an adjustment. That and the biting of my hands or arms.

I'm not sure the best age to start training it but ours used to get crazy excited whenever I'd enter the room so I did the "flitting game"
https://www.thecanineconsultants.co.uk/post/separation-anxiety-fact-vs-fiction
and I can't remember where I read about it but basically any time I had to leave the room like go to the loo when coming back I wouldn't give her loads of attention, just a look in the eyes and more praise once they've settled. By not making a fuss of coming and going pretty quickly they'll learn that if you leave the room you're coming back and also that they get praise if they're settled rather than jumping up.The biting, best thing I found was just always having a toy to swap out. The yelping or whatever doesn't work it just makes it a game for them. They learn by experience and they have a fun game biting your hands with noises then they'll do it again, if you rarely ever let them bite you then it won't become a habit. But it'll happen and it hurts with puppy razor teeth.

Popped round a pals house on Friday for a couple of beers, their Staffy is a bundle of joy and affection.
Managed to get him to sit still for 30secs so I could take an almost in focus shot (sorry, it was getting dark and had to have it wide open, hence the v narrow DoF)

Speaking of hot dogs, I recently got a new bed for ours, a mesh thing suspended from a frame. She seems to like it. Ignore the messy hair, I'd just washed her.

The dog cooling mats are quite good too - basically like those gel icepacks you got when you grazed your knee at school, but big.

Have a meet and greet tomorrow with this girl. If Reggie gets on with her I’m adopting another one.

Jack Russell, I had one from same breeder until January this year. He was super little dog and he had left quite a big hole in our lives.

Odie’s favourite way to cool off. Otherwise he’s basically just taken up residence under the table in our kitchen for the whole day, poor lad.

Yeah real good advice. I've started training, he's smart. Knowa sit, lay down, come, fetch, crate, paw already. Your right about the toys too. I have yo hold onto it. Or he just takes them all outside and come back and starts biting again. I did find the kong filled with chicken really good, loves it and keeps him distracted for ages.

Amen to that... Bless you, Dougie, wherever you are!

Comet just sploots all day in this weather then wakes up in the evening and sits on the sofa barking at the naughty foxes.
Can recommend gel mats and frozen kongs stuffed with food.

Also - quick warning for anyone who might use Beckenham Place Park - I was followed yesterday morning by a tall youngish bloke in blue shorts and a white t-shirt. Made sure by going round in circles, stopping, taking a winding route etc. He followed for quite a while, deliberately keeping his distance until I stopped round a blind corner and he had to pass me. He then sat a ways off looking at me when I went into one of the open spaces before he seemed to lose interest.
No idea if he had some mental health issues, was looking at the dog or thought I was up for something else. In any case, very unnerving and very odd.

Crumpet cries like fuck if we go anywhere near the hose! She's taken up swimming recently though which is great in the heat. We've got her a cooling pad as well (well, she's stolen it from the cat) and a collar/bandana thing that we soak in cold water which seems to work quite well! Considering she's from Greece, she's shit in the heat.

Odie goes fucking nuts for it. I have to shut him inside if I want to use to hose now. I can’t get enough of watching him, though - he’s a lunatic.

Those gifs are amazing, ha ha. Very jealous, must make giving him a wash so much easier! Our neighbors probably think we're murdering Crumpet any time she goes near soap.

The hand / foot biting nearly drove me to despair when ours was a puppy.
We were recommended using these really hard chew sticks called a bully/pizzle stick, google what it is at your own peril, but one of those used to last months when she was a pup and was a great way to distract her from trying to shred my jeans, and we also used it to placate her when she was trying to settle in the crate / night time / anytime we needed to work from home. I think other people use Yak sticks but they may not be available in Spain, we can't get them in NZ.
I really liked channeling that bitey play into playing tug with the dog. We made some from plaited microfibre cloth strips (we were in lockdown and it was all we could fashion), now we have a tug toy from Tug-E-Nuff in the UK and it's great.

Thanks great advice. I can feel the despair. He seems to have good and bad days, need to work harder on the redirect perhaps with more toys and will get those stick you recommend.
In good news, he's started going to the toilet in the park now, after soke hesitation, which helps. Hopefully he will feel comfortable everywhere outside soon.
Cute puppy!

We’ve had a week in Cornwall and the weather has been belting. We kept Benny cool on the beach by visiting beaches with freshwater streams, Polridmouth Cove (we are in Fowey) and Mawgan Porth…dog face is knackered every day but loving life.

How did it go with the meet 'n' greet? She looks lovely. I wouldn't be able to resist those velvety ears.
I had 2 weeks off work when we got ours and was "working" from home (still am) the rest of the time. After 2 months of waking up every 2 hours through the night and never being able to leave her for a minute or she'd pee somewhere, I was done. Luckily one night we just didn't wake up for our alarms and realised she slept through the whole time without issue until 7am and from there it got much easier
