ooh I clicked on the info at the bottom of the window that said 3D not available, which offered a link about system requirements, which was unhelpful (I'm on latest chrome and Win10) but when I clicked the link from there to Maps - I have the 3D button back! Woohoo :)
Edit: however this only seems to work using that link, if I go straight to maps in another window, it doesn't work :/
Edit2: It seems to be as simple as - http://www.google.co.uk/maps/ or maps.google.co.uk leads to low-res, no 3D. Using http://www.google.com/maps/ or maps.google.com leads to 3D high-res joy. Is this a Brexit thing?
Google Maps sometimes switches into a lite mode if you don't have enough computrones or something. There is sometimes a link in a bottom corner to go back to full mode. Do you have anything like that?
