I’ve bought some synths to do exactly this but I’ll have the good grace to wear my headphones. I think my wife would be off sharpish otherwise.

Worse. The skills element is missing.

His has left. His kids don't visit too often either.

Ha ha. For some reason I’m reminded of this.

I hate people who downplay Covid by saying it will be ‘just like flu’ as though flu is something that doesn’t floor you for the best part of a fortnight of agony, weird fever dreams and endless shitting.
I can only assume they’ve never had actual influenza and are mistaking it for a bad cold they once had.
-

Exactly this. I had flu a few years ago and genuinely thought at points if I'd been older it would have finished me off

I did a BSL course a few years ago and my tutor was deaf due to 'flu.
Also: people who say they have the flu when they really have a cold.
"won't be in work today, I have the flu" returns the next day with a pack of lemsips and runny nose. mugs. -

I had flu Xmas '19 was fucking awful and just as Covid was becoming a thing, so really put me off that.
-
• #16412
I had really achey bollocks with my flu as well. Not one of the added bonuses I’ve heard about with Covid.

In Northern Ireland "flu kills" and "it's not just a flu" signs are plastered all over ambulances and bus stops / bus ads signs etc.
If you can still walk out of bed, it's not the flu I was told.
-

Yep. Had it once, in my twenties and will never call a bad cold ‘flu’ again. Sweats, chills, blinding headaches, I lost all grip on reality for two weeks.
-
• #16415
I had so many of it, strong cough, chest, nose and face totally fucked, 3 weeks at home, 2/3 weeks after for a total recovery, but I never understood if it was flu or what.

Absolutely*!
'* I worked on a project thing with a project manager who said "Absolutely" in response to pretty much everything that was said to them. It made meetings very painful.

Where to even start with this unwanted online interruption.
But for starters how about…
Fuck you the wanker-bag agency behind this for swallowing the whole client cock of booze-driving association as somehow hero wears a helmet and success in the next corner is just one swig away.
“But it’s only an online ad won’t hurt anyone” apologists can also die in a fucking ditch.
Anyway.
Can we have the John Player Special cars and darts back please? Where’s the harm…

It's zero alcohol, though. Pretty sure association of alcohol and driving in advertising is against the law in UK.

If you can still walk out of bed, it's not the flu I was told.
I can't remember who said it, but I always use the £20 note test:
You are lying on a sofa next to a window and a £20 note lands on the window sill outside. Are you able to open the window and get it?

Also on the general covid point, one of my mates after almost a year has only regained ~80% of their sense of taste/smell. I'm fucked if I want that or to fuck around trying to live my life while ill if I don't have to.
I'm quite bitter at the moment about this due a one of my OH's mates being in full denial anti-covid-vax mode. Apparently they are "just over it". We're now constantly being put in the awkward scenario of how to balance protecting ourselves and family without damaging the friendship. It feels like such an unnecessary extra piece of life admin.

Not some one you want as a friend, nuke the relationship.
