  • Haha.

  • I do not think it's beyond criticism..

  • It’s fabulous, worth a few views in fact.

  • For emptiness and Brit film

    The Offense

  • Will check it out, thanks.

  • Telford never looked so grim

  • Whoever mentioned German movies..

I'm going to watch Fear eats the soul again

  • ? Do you mean Trevor Oward?

  • I mention it, from Fassbinder I watched only Querelle, actually, I'm quite curious to watch something more.

  • Maybe World on a Wire? There is a restored version which is quite watchable at least visually.

Edit: that's hilarious I just watched the trailer of the criterion collection and out of 3 reasons to
watch it 2 are the cinematography. That's so spot on, without the magic of Michael Ballhaus most of his films are just cheap TV trash.

  • Since you mentioned Greenaway before I can not recommend Baby of Macon enough. I only saw it twice in 1993 and just recently. While re-watching it everything was so familiar, no other film has burned itself into my mind like this one. It's so beautiful and horrific.

  • I think I got you.. Nah, it can be worse... especially in different places....

  • Baby of Macon

Yesss, that was already on my list... it will take some time to go there though, I need a moment where I can sit and do it good.. The photography must be excellent...

  • yes, no distractions, in one go. It's magical. Also the sound design and music are amazing.

  • I just saw Zed and the two noughts. What a pleasure for the eyes, but to enjoy this film you have to be open to symbolism. It’s a moving painting. A lot of information, a ZOO, the beginning of life, lots of animals; two brothers, Oliver and Oswald(the photographer) both obsessed in documenting decay, vids of decay, but also a hospital a doctor and experimental amputations, also whores. Icy. What a feeling!

  • Yeah it's a trip alright

  • Bone Tomahawk... Wow... Thought I'd already seen it, but no... Wow...

  • New and old last night.

The Duke - lovely film about a lovely man, great fun.

Contact - science, aliens and higher power, Jodie Foster is great.

  • I just watched Contact on this thread's recommendation. Pretty good. Wouldn't have been half as good without Jodie Foster.

I thought I recognised the Psycho Christian Bomber and of course it's him off Gary Busey's brother.

  • A powerful good movie showing an awful reality.

  • Bone Tomahawk... Wow... Thought I'd already seen it, but no... Wow...

Loved the start and how, for a western, it was quite claustrophobic. All the scenes set in rooms without any landscapes. When the chase ensued, the enormity of it was matched by the growing size of the outdoor scenes (spoilt a little by all the tractor tracks in a field).
In the last third, suspense rises and spaces reduce again.
    The finale... Would they really?
