Don't be fat. Keep clean (wash or sanitiser at toilet stops), two pairs of shorts to wash and alternate, never stay in dirty knicks if you can avoid it, sleep in hotels where you can properly wash, if you can't sleep in hotels have a pair of non-cycling airy shorts to sleep in. Some people like to use Sudocreme type stuff for healing at night.
Accept that it will happen and suffer through it by making light of the fact you're sit bones have been bleeding for two days and your shorts are stuck to them. (this is me in all races now having tried everything above)
