Why didn’t Cav play it safe and go for a win today? Pressure is on for Paris, now!

Lot of work to chase a breakaway that big, and not sure BE would have helped DQS in the event they tried to bring them back. That said I didn't watch the stage so they could have very well been dying on the front all day. I would have thought less effort to control the Paris crit than chase down a Mohoric and Pollitt fuelled breakaway for a whole stage.

They weren’t on the front at all, but didn’t seem to make the efforts to contain the break when they could have. It wasn’t that they gave up, more that they didn’t try.
