It was a front tyre but it was on the back :)
I guess it either had a cut in it I didn't notice but given what it looked like nearby it appears to have delaminated much like the Pro 4 Endurance did that I swapped it out for.

Bit late to the fan party but definitely a vacmaster. If anyone does get a 3 pack I'll take one of them off your hands.
Mine has also earned me beer and wine for neighbours with wet plaster walls

I'm leaning to vacmaster, probably not the fitness fan as all I can tell, the remote is the only thing that differs.
-
• #4130
I think the remote is a nice idea, but you could just set it to 3 at the start and leave it.
Very useful in a heatwave too

Fuck turbos. Get out on the MTB. It's just bikes.
-
• #4132
If it makes you feel better I actually cycled outside today... at 5am... going around in circles at Hillingdon on the TT bike. Next race is Nat 12hr so I can't afford to give up energy cycling on a bike that ain't the TT bike.

Yeah I'm only trolling. Good effort!

My new MTB is in storage anyway so I only have a singlespeed dualie Kona A thingie with huge slicks. I've still got the original knobbies that came with it off ebay so that's what I was going to ride KAW after Transiberica (if I can be arsed by then).

• #4135
Love a Kona A.
Dibs!

• #4136
If it wasn't my only dirt option right now you could have it. I tried to give it away to the NHS staff but no one wanted it. Now it's actually handy to me.
I even tried servicing its fork... mmm metallic oil...

Those crazy fools! Perhaps they saw the fork oil...

Asked before today's Zwift session on the gym bike, they were fine but asked me to ask anyone else in the area.
The one person on a rowing machine 10 yards away didn't mind and no-one else was about.
It's no vacmaster but it produced enough air directed at my chest/face to take the edge off the session (A touch of Egypt). Will use again.
(I hate high cadence work, Week 5 of the 'Back to Fitness' Zwift training plan is mostly done at 105 or 110 rpm. Ugh.)

Wahoo have got a bit of a sale on if anyone is on the fence about a trainer ... or pedals.
-
• #4140
seems kinda mad since the great shortage of lockdown 1.0!
-
• #4141
It does! I somehow grabbed a Kick Core during the shortage, but those Speedplay pedals have been tempting me for a while ...
-
• #4142
Vacmaster is proving its value at the moment.
-
• #4143
high cadence work ... 105 or 110 rpm.
Does not compute.
-
• #4144
I'm a lazy grinder.
I don't mind proper high cadence stuff when it has a purpose or is unavoidable (such as descending down to Llanberis from Pen-y-Pass on 67" fixed) but my natural cadence is ~80rpm and so everything beyond that feels like more of an effort than it should.
-
• #4145
That'll be why you love those cadence drills then :P

Anyone got any thoughts on the Direto X. It’s the hottest day of the year so my thoughts are inevitably turning to riding inside hunched over an inadequate fan.
Had a cyclops magneto for years but fancy a step up at the direto looks affordable.

First night on the turbo yesterday, managed 30 minutes at low intensity, and I was gassed. Things to do, adjust saddle tilt down a touch, invest in a fan as I was sweating buckets and towel to catch the sweat.
Any recommendations on bibs for the turbo as I've only got a pair that I use for spring time rides with a thin (compared to when I bought it) pad. Nothing too pricey, just comfy and light weight.
-
• #4148
Madison bibs are supposed to be ok for turbo trainer specific.
Sweat thong from giant is good.
-
• #4149
Slightly odd one, but I was looking for something to cover the turbo with when the bike is not on it. I will have a toddler crawling around soon so I wanted something to make the turbo safer while not using it, without having to put it away every use.
I was thinking about a Plyo/Jump box used in gyms or something similar, that could double up as a stool.. Any thoughts on that?
(the turbo in question is a Kickr Core) -

Aren't plyo boxes often enclosed? The one in your picture could potentially be assembled without one of the faces and the internal bracing. However it looks just like this one
and so the edge of the open face would not be flush. A wooden crate might do the trick if you can find the right size (and should be cheaper).
I've got a KICKR but it's in storage, next to the MTB and the gravel bike and...
