This is really lovely - aside from it sounding so good, I'd also never heard of the poem but you're dead right about how it's not dated.

Not quite the right place for it but I recently did a little live demo of a Kipling poem, one dynamic mic and one of those cheap Recording Kings that everyone bought about a year back, and I'm agog at how great it sounds. Like the performance is super scrappy (I only wrote the chords the day before) but having a nice sounding room, nice sounding mic, and a decent audio interface, plus proper monitoring to be able to EQ right, it makes such a huge difference. I can't wait to make another proper record.
