It's true, most of their carbon bikes are open mould.
-
• #9682
Well, this Pressure model definitely is. What are the other ones?
-
• #9683
Superstar and king zydeco too
-
• #9684
Just reading hunches online about it but no links or comparisons.
-
• #9685
Yeah there's nothing concrete but there's no consistency in the range. Different sizing and bb standards all over.
-
• #9686
Aye.
Show us the other brands using the same framez. 😎

The Superstar and Zydeco are probably exclusive (not open mould) to Cinelli, which at least gives me the idea they had some design input in them.
For Cinelli to use an open mould frame for their top offering, with other brands and China selling the same thing, well, that's just disappointing. The Pressure doesn't even use a Cinelli handlebar system (>FSA). It's a long way from what they did with the the Laser series, Starship frame and Alter range :/. Guess it's become too expensive, and irrelevant to marketing, to develop the tech themselves.

could have to do with profitability and larger market reach? i dunno if its been discussed here, but an investment group bought majority shares in cinelli/columbus - article here

• #9689
Cinelli themselves say it in two separate articles in Cyclist.

This.
Basso still make carbon things I believe.
-
• #9692
It's not that. Sourcing an open mould frame is something different than having frames produced to your spec/design outside of the brand's country of origin.
Basso is an Italian brand producing carbon frames in Italy indeed.

I think the last 3 road race frames could be bought under different brand names no?
-
• #9694
Just the Pressure
Didn't find the other frames with different brands.

I can’t even remember their names but wasn’t the Saetta open mould? Pretty sure a friend had a ProRace (Dutch brand I think) that is exactly the same.
