300km a day for 18 days is hardly a plod like.
Great idea for a ride, made loads of money for a cool charity and something else to follow along while the tour's on.
Dunno why folk are so determined to find something wrong with this. -

Who arrived first?

Cos it’s not UCI sanctioned. This the UCI thread, really.
Whoops, thought this was Pro Cycling.

I did that for 21 days across the USA and I'm an alcoholic that weighs 2 x Lachies on a good day. :D
There's nothing wrong with it. I think what people don't like is the marketing machine behind it. No one has mentioned the guy that rode all three of this year's grand tours and the transfers...

Because of EF and Rapha I'd imagine.

The podium of the 200k was filled with current and former pros.
-
• #2508
I'm just disappointing there wasn't a shoey at the end of it.

Different angle to last time!
ADSA did not officially recognise this race or the pro status of any participants.

Most of them are pros, right? Some are not UCI road pros but they're still paid to ride.
Maybe we'll see race entries with "Please provide your current employer details and working hours here: " in the future :)

Don’t ask me. The Pro Cycling fascists will come out of the woodwork soon to let you know.
The final nail in the coffin was that Boswell holds a marketing job at Wahoo.
I campaigned hard for a few days but to no avail. The ‘alternative calendar’ is brilliant and I look forward to its development.

Shows how dull Pogacar’s dominance has made this tour that you’re all squabbling about the legitimacy of a gravel sportive in the TdF thread.

Lacking regular gooch updates from Morton. Poor show all around.
A mix of former/current World Tour/ Pro Continental riders in that list.
-
• #2514
I think you'll find it's the alt tour coverage that's kicked this all off, presumably because it was getting more coverage than the Tour because rest day.

He's so skinny he probably floats above the saddle.
-
• #2516
Has he been dropped yet? #froomedogwatch
-
• #2517
He's been seen riding Magura brake calipers so a mechanical seems inevitable
-
• #2518
lol
-
• #2519
He changed his bike for a rim braked one mid stage.
-
• #2520
Dammit wasn't available for a bleed so he changed bikes
-
• #2521
That's just because they spunked their budget on him so his spare bike is 10 years old.
-
• #2522
Reportedly zero saddle sores from my * sources *.
-
• #2523
Today's stage starting with multiple riders sporting jackets and buffs. Looks like one of my winter group rides
-
• #2524
And a nice stop to take your jacket off. Very civilised.

predictions for todays stage?
Movistar, Trek Segafredo and Rally Pro Cycling did terribly at Unbound Gravel 2021.
It was the ‘failed road racers’ that took the podium.
