  • So in the aftermath of yesterday’s football, we have a rest day. Going to be a slow day….

  • Yep. I have a day off, too.

To add to the joy it's chucking it down here.

  • and yet it's where 2nd on GC gets distanced.

  • 2nd on GC is a vacant position, one day an aussie has it, other day a french guy

  • I'm also sure one of them commented on a church and the paintings inside of the Last Summer...

  • Which is a shitload more interesting than watching Pog chillout with 5min lead.

  • Feel the tour is gonna somewhat fizzle out :o(

  • Movistar currently 8th on the team classification.

  • Rest day at the tour but it’s wonderful to see Jinsong Li get a third in Stage 2 of Qinghai Lake. He’s a class act.

  • I also wonder why? Is the finish line a rubbish zone? Otherwise should there be a penalty?

On penalty note: Uran did a poppy paws for few seconds when attacked. Was there any comment from the ASO?

  • Uran did a poppy paws for few seconds when attacked.

I think it's just puppy paws that the UCI have an issue with. :)

  • Is it 5km to go yet?

  • I think it's just puppy paws that the UCI have an issue with. :)

Reminds me of a phone call I received from my very excited Swedish sister in law one November a few years back. She couldn't wait to tell me about the RAF plane that had just flown over Tower Bridge releasing tens of thousands of puppies into the river.

  • How is the number/rate of riders abandoning the tour compared to earlier years?

  • higher this year at this stage than for any other tour since 2012 (?) I think

  • Sagan had surgery due to a knee infection.
Fuck climbing Ventoux twice with that going on.

  • So here are my hot take talking points:
    a) some of them quit with a hope to do well in the Olympics instead?
    b) a winter with all kinds of pandemic related inconveniences has affected their training, and many riders are finding they're less fit than they hoped to be?
    c) it's just a random statistical spike with no particular reason as to why it happened this year?

  • d) everyone horny

  • Or not horny enough

  • Are rest days needed? Seem to hear more negative comments from riders than positive but maybe a selective bias thing.

  • Looks like Lachlan made it to Paris with a few days to spare... https://www.instagram.com/p/CRQTvAwl04W/

  • They're needed for the race to start and finish on a weekend and have 21 stages. Also for the press to get their fill.

  • If the race didn’t have official ones, the riders would agree unofficial ones and no-one wants to see a peloton doing 200kms at club run pace.

  • Made every other pro look soft

  • Sorry, but that’s bullshit.

You are comparing apples with oranges. Morton’s ride deserves respect, but so does every single rider who starts the Tour.
