Even though I think most of these petitions are like screaming into the void, this one’s worth signing as a show of support I think:

People have turned out in support of Rashford after the graffiti. It's on my commute home.

I said something similar to this last night. Seems daft that a single player can be suspended after two yellows in different games - with no benefit to either opponent - but a team can accrue any number in a single match with no penalty.

Now this is a nice thing to see - well done to the people showing support.

On Saka and Chiellini... Saka declined a 50/50 with Chiellini about 5 minutes before the shirt pull. I think the pull was proper shithousery on a player that Big C had decided wasn't really up for the physical part of the game.
Edit to add in light of the racist nonsense. No criticism implied of Saka.

This is good a summary of the disturbances:

No criticism implied of Saka.
Why not? He didn't have a particularly good game overall I thought, and while putting up with fouls is not to be expected, dealing with physical opponents is...

I was thinking about this last night - I don't believe there's much inherently worse about the English populace vs French/Italian/German etc, but why is it that we put on such a shitshow around the football? I reckon it's - in part at least - that because of the genuine unpleasantness of watching live football in the 80s/early 90s the 'reasonable' fans and family groups etc stopped going, effectively ceding the space to the extremes who could act however they like. I'd draw a parallel here with how we've ceded town centres/nightlife to the extreme drinkers. Who hasn't sat in a French/Spanish/Italian square at 1am marvelling at the mix of people still out and about and the - generally speaking - absence of groups of drunk aggressive men swaggering about looking for trouble. Whereas I guess in part due to weather/lifestyle but also the retreat from pubs towards eating/drinking at home in British culture we've let our town centres become no-go stag-do playgrounds and this spirit of 'I can do whatever I want when I'm drunk' has become the hallmark of English drinking culture and is exacerbated whenever the football's on or when people get together on holiday etc...
No idea what the solution is - maybe the silent and reasonable majority just need to get out to the football and start drinking\eating in town centres again?

silent and reasonable
The silent and reasonable will be silent and reasonable…'I can do whatever I want when I'm drunk'.
I believe this is the culprit. -

Don't disagree but I'm sensitive to the scapegoating of England's black players. Deciding not to get blasted into the hoarding isn't necessarily a mistake!
I thought the England team played well in the final. Limped to penalties against an overrun midfield. Garry Manager's failure to have a plan B lost the final but I'm not sure if he has any ball playing pivot midfielders to go toe to toe with Verratti and Jorginho. In my opinion England are too slow to push the defensive line forward when in attack. -

Who hasn't sat in a French/Spanish/Italian square at 1am marvelling at the mix of people
I haven't - I'm always passed out pissed by then.
irl - wandering round London on Sunday, my Italian partner was marvelling at the amount of people who thought they could be skulling pints from 10 am and still think they would be in a fit state to watch/enjoy/remember the game, behave like grown ups, create an atmosphere where everyone feels safe and happy.
She was also wondering why people hadn't been driving around tooting their horns after the other matches like they would in Italy - same reason luv, they're all pissed as cunts...

For sure. I think my point is really that you would be far less likely to put a flare up your bum/dance on a bin with your willy out/throw shit at police etc if you would be doing so in front of your mum/your mate's dad/your primary school teacher/your boss etc. The self-regulating factor of knowing you would be accountable for your actions to people you actually know/care about is huge. Instead, we have vacated the spaces and allowed the sloppy minority to treat our city centres/football watching as a stag do with no repercussions/oversight. We need vigilante groups of mums to police these occasions with maximum shaming and tutting...

Has Tyrone Mings won the internet this week?
His comments are spot on. I hope he goes on a crusade and calls the Tory shire out for what they are.

Wow! What an excruciating bit of corporate shill work. I hope he gets pelters off his teammates for that.
I’m struggling to think of how anyone at Taco Bell thought this was a good idea given everything that’s happened the past few days.
