I agree with you here you don't want a completely sanitised game part of the why football is such a great game is that its a contact sport. Shithouseery is 100 part of it.

Exactly. Minor shirt pulling is, has always been and always will be part of the game.
That was an exaggerated example that was worthy of a yellow.
If he'd done it when the player was through one-on-one with the keeper then you could easily argue for a red, but not for way out on the wing not far over the half way line.
Trying to get rid of all of the dark arts out of football would take large amounts of the fun out of both playing and watching it.
