Can you back this up using the rules of the game? I appreciate that its quite open to interpretation but I would have thought it would be quite hard to justify a shirt pull near the half way line as either denying a clear goal scoring opportunity or as serious foul play.

It could be classed as endangering the safety of an opponent (and possibly using excessive force) which is serious foul play.

A bit unusual as a foul that would get you sent off in rugby but not in football.
