Further proof, if it were needed, that a Labour government is essential if England fans want tournament success.
Italia 90, Euro 96, Russia 2018 and now Euro 2020. All under Conservative rule.

Other countries have hated England long before brexit.. See Scotland, Ireland and Wales. The arrogance of footballing culture and then the thuggery of 70s/80s/90s. Then the money of EPL and more arrogance from the press of golden gen. brexit is just another straw on the camels back.
Think I saw it up thread England are the milwall if international football. Everyone wants to see England get beaten apart from the English. It's the natural order of things. -

We looked good for 20 minutes at the beginning yesterday, then the team that haven't lost in forever remembered who they were and squeezed the game. We got to pens was a miracle.
The aftermath. Fuck me. Just disgusting.

That’s awful. Hope they all get put in prison.

• #158432
Pretty much this (Finn here). The penalty added to it, but it is the arrogance, and the fans which cause the most hate.

arrogance
This... Post colonial denial, etc...

• #158434
Still haven't had a chance to watch the pens...
Colleague met me at the door at work with the result, it was meant to be... Nice one, Jorginho and Emerson!! Up the Chelsea!!

Things to contemplate:
Allowing everyone from wherever in the UK to come to London from early doors and shove flares up their bum?No police heavy handiness for these guys but yes for those guys.
I guarantee at least one person (other than me) will draw analogy to the Roman mob of Roman empire times, of keeping them happy with gladiatorial combat, of the disgust of Rome towards the mob and the mob towards Rome.

Glorious ending: Southgate ever the loser, and Saka scarred for life.

England's goal was beautiful.
Chiesa going off probably saved us from losing earlier. -

Just putting my prior post more succinctly. Bukayo Saka represents me and the racists never will.

The aftermath is why I hate football sometimes.
Exactly. It's not the sport, it's the fans (with the hype and hyperbole a close second).

The medicine of defeat always tastes bitter, I hope that in my lifetime we get to taste the sweet success of victory. It’s been a long hard fought tournament and I am still proud of our manager and young squad.
My cousins love to rub it in, with stuff like this.

Can we stop calling the ignorant, disgraceful racists 'England fans'? They are not England fans.
But they are though. Supporting England is a huge deal to these guys - they buy the merch, get the tattoos and follow the team round the world. But what England represents to them is not diversity, it's empire, Brexit, superiority over forrins. They can charge up the cognitive dissonance and cheer the Black players when they're doing well, but as soon as they stumble they're not 'proper English' anymore.

The Italians look less classy from this angle:

No we can't, a significant percentage of England fans are utterly abject thick-arse racist cunts. I'm pretty glad they lost, feel a bit sorry for the players and manager mind.
-
• #158447
Yeah this. We have to accept that some of our fans are racist. It’s ugly and needs to be dealt with.
-
• #158448
Proper old-school defending. Classic Italian, Baresi would be proud.

Bollocks. Total dirt

There's a ton of evidence to find and convict these guys with. They should round these fuckers up and dole out big sentences like they did with the young *black kids after the riots in 2011.
*I realise there were other ethnicities involved.
There's been hatred for England well before brexit, and it seems more than the usual spite between teams. Never really understood why it's particularly bad, since we don't put may teams out, but I think the size of the PL and the loudmouth English media doesn't help.
