Croissantwatch. Day 6: Bonjour Putney.
Location self evident.
5/5. Still the best I’ve found.
Experience heightened by the fear of practicing french to the lovely French owners.
Coffee good too.
Can’t recommend the place highly enough, and their tart au citron is ace too.

Bonjour Putney.
Planning to ride somewhere 'london' on next England game on Weds, might be too late though but good to know post Richmond.
I think Loic told me about this place.

Snapes wrote this book
I know you meant nothing by it but it's best to say co-wrote. When the book was published it was quite disappointing how the publishing industry seemed to leave Eve out of awards and recognition etc.

Hope you didn't take that as a swipe at you.
Was more an observation of how things went in the book awards process after the book was released. They're good friends of ours and I feel a bit sore about the few times that Eve was overlooked for recognition for her work.

I've pretty much stopped wearing sneakers... Boots/shoes for work, slides in the house and Bedrocks everywhere else... We're living the dream, m9... 👡🖤

Why is it seemingly impossible to buy these anywhere any more?
If I wanted to make them myself, what sort of cucumbers do I need - would generic ogorki work?

the only pickle worth a shout.
saino's used to do them but you're right, they're nowt to be found. Brexit Burgers for all!

Get you to a Waitrose.
Or it’s the polish cucumbers you need
-
• #31091
^^ too damn right they are.
^ Waitrose out too.
Time to forage in the high street - There's Hungarian, Polish and "Mediterranean" shops for me to try my luck.

Krakus do an OK pickle. Try your local Polski Sklep.
-
• #31093
They are available to add to my order from wherever Sainsbury's deliver to me.
Have you tried your local kosher stores?
-
• #31094
Good shout, have bought various pickles from Polski Skleps.
-
• #31095
Get these instead. Tesco have them and Polish shops. So much better.

Not a patch on any artisan ones of course, but I’m yet to get past Lidl croissants for a reliably not-too-shit and widely available version, and they’re also stupidly cheap as an extra bonus
-
• #31097
Really? Taste like they've used margarine instead of butter imo.
-
• #31098
Have never had one but I know Lidl say that they only use butter.

Was recently given a chamber vacuum sealer. So far it has just been used for compressing fruit.
Pineapple compressed with white balsamic vinegar and rosemary is my new favourite thing.

My great grandad was a pastry chef there for a while in the 1930s. And my Mum worked there for a short period in the 60s. /csb
